Egg/ampule resemblance

You know what? I thought the same thing while watching the movie. I have to admit that it did appeal to me. I like anything structurally clean and futuristic in nature. The creators of the metallic egg (Scott or Lindelof I don't know) did a good job in retaining the sliminess too (you can see that when David8 opens one.) In your post, you forget to mention one more thing, the xeno eggs themselves can stay dormant like these ampules ( from Alien we know they stayed dormant for at least 56 years. )

You're right :) Did you notice when Kane was looking closely on the egg, water drops is "boiling" and dripping upwards. Same thing in Prometheus. When David looks at the ampule you can see "water drops" "boiling" on the top of the ampule.

I think EVERYONE noticed the similarities between the eggs in Alien and vases in Prometheus. What I want to know is why is there also goo on TOP of them? Is the outer shell of the Vase made entirely of organic material and now that its exposed to fresh air, it slowly starts melting into just a puddle of goo or something? Is the vase's outer shell just deteriorating from the change of atmosphere, causing some goo to leak out? I originally thought that those vases would evolve into an egg somehow.

dont you think the engineers could have created the vases in the image of the alien eggs, because otherwise they would have needed a queen alien to create them.
