MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 5:15 PMSome questions about the timeline of all of this plot.
1) They had already built murals of the xenomorph's (black, long-headed creature). So, they already knew what a goo'd-up worm face-hugging a human would like this? And they had it as a mural? Were they worshipping it? I"m confused about this, because I thought that they were running around because of an outbreak, yet they already knew how to create the black-like xeno morph, and built a mural for it?
2) What was in the other tomb below the xenomorph mural?
3) Weren't we going under the impression that the Goo changed things, based on their DNA? So the goo got on the worms, which face-hugged a human/engineer, and created the black thing? If these were worms native to this planet, how did the same type creature get on the other planet from the original Alien?
4) Bioweapons VS Aliens - I'm a little confused which is which. So, they have some biological weapon that basically disintegrates themselves, right? So, that wasn't the same goo that morphed the worms, right? WHy would it change a worm into something else, but just disintegrate a human? Also, if the goo gets on a human, and it turns them into angry-strong humans, then how come Shaw had a squid baby? So, the goo changes humans into angry people, but if they give birth with goo in them, they look like squid? Pretty confusing

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 5:40 PMYeah I find it a bit of a logic jump that the black goo can not only morph a human, but also travel from his sperm into a woman and then grow into an octopus and then facehug an Engineer to produce a xenomorph.
Also I think they could have handled the worm transformation better. The short 2 second shot of the worms earlier in the film had to be at least 40 minutes or even an hour before the snake-like creatures filmed, and by then I completely forgot about how the worms were shown earlier and I thought the snakes were just another creature that the Engineers made.

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 6:24 PMThe fate of the Worms are unkown, they had nothing to do with the story except to show/foreshadow the effects of the black goo, that the black goo is a mutagen. The worms also existed to eliminate the two stupidest flipping characters on that planet. Milburn really was the dumbest. Poor Fifield wanted to get the f**K outa there.

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 6:30 PMI'm kind of upset/sad that I missed that part, that they were showing that the goo mutates things. I missed that completely =[

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 6:34 PMJust curious but, say, a straight up facehugger makes more sense than some x-file alien virus?
Seriously though, the virus did more than just 'disintegrate' him, it started recombining immediately though dispersed by heavy water flow, maybe he would have turned into the jolly green giant if he'd of kept himself clear of the H2O... Seems to me the differences are explained by the form and quantity of exposure.
As far as the murals go, it could be a constant reminder of the possible negative results of good intentions, or, it could be that the Engineers are actively working for some higher form of xeno, or monkeys... doing something...

MemberOvomorphJun-09-2012 8:35 PMPerhaps what we saw (the murals) are like wanted psoters or warnings to not to this or to be on the look out for this if you see it...It is definetly not something that can be controlled as we learn in ALIEN AND ALIENS

MemberOvomorphJun-11-2012 1:37 PMthe mural was twisted versions of the Adam and God on the Cistine Chapel showing God putting a facehugger on an Engineer and the statue was of Jesus on the Cross as Death. Getting away from worshipping the Titans (about 2000 years ago) as our true Gods and going tword worshipping a Universal God that did not create us was the reason why our true Gods (the engineers) decided that we werent good enough for life so they were planning to take that gift back from us. We were about to be punished for worshipping the wrong God thats why they made images of the Chistian type God in horrible form.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 3:32 PMYou have to imagine that there are different kinds of this DNA goo. There is the kind that the Engineer used on earth in combination with his own DNA to introduce intelligent life into an already lush planet. The ship is most certainly a war vessel, or a cargo ship carrying "Xenomorph" DNA canisters. Everything that the black goo from the ship touched, turned into some variation of a xenomorph facehugger. In the initial chamber with all the canisters, the little worm things were variations of a facehugger. The alien fetus that Noomi Rapace gave "birth" too quickly grew to be a giant facehugger and subsequently the Xenomorph that was developing in the Engineer was a Xenomorph that grew past the development of the typical chestburster we are used to seeing, and obviously it had taken some characteristics of its host. I think it is safe to say that Xenomorphs predated this movie by many years and had been created and crafted into a weapon that when used, one canister could decimate an entire planet and wipe out the existence of a race that was now seen as a folly. Maybe they were crafted specifically to undo the human race. Although they were very familiar with the aliens reproductive growth and obviously had a Queen at some point, maybe before before or after the event sof Prometheus. You never see any eggs on that ship, but that mural would sure make you believe they already had a Queen. Obviously, being as volatile a creature as we are all familar with, the Engineers have had many problems containing the Xenomorphs and had several outbreaks across the galaxy, ie. the original Space Jockey. However, if this is all correct, I wonder what supposedly happened to the creatures that killed all the Engineers on LV-223? I assume the events that were broadcast in that weird three dimensional security cam footage were supposed to have happened a long long time ago and possibly any creature that was birthed in that time would be long gone or dead. Either way, I guess we should surely figure some of these things out in the inevitable sequel.

MemberOvomorphJun-15-2012 8:58 PMThe way I see this is that the Xenomorphs have been around for many a millennia, are the product of the Engineers genetic engineering and are used as a bio weapon to clean up the population of a planet for whatever reason. Due to the volatile nature of these creatures their Genetic Code is kept in storage and are only used when absolutely necessary. As mentioned by Ash in the original Alien " their perfection is matched only by their Hostility". I would assume that the Engineers feel some kind of reverence or respect towards these creatures because they represent perfection and are fearfully destructive.
The murals represent an appreciation and possibly an element of reverence towards this creation. It shows that they treat the Xenomorph with the greatest respect and the creature and its life cycle has a significant place in their culture.
