"The Thing" references?

i noticed how one of the main weapons they had was a flamethrower just like from the movie "The Thing".and they also had to "test" the blood to look for the alien weapon stuff.and also the alien weapon stuff changed the one character into a monster kinda like from that movie haha anyone notice?

I noticed, I believe Ridley Scott mentioned that some of the movie would be like The Thing.

Yeah, I was talking to a friend about that. Several scenes reminded me of The Thing 2011. When I was watching The Thing I came out thinking that it would have been better if they had explored the ship more and focus on the alien and the reason it was there. Well, Prometheus did that, so it belongs more to The Thing universe, than to Alien. Also, Kate Lloyd character is a combination of Shaw and Vickers and don´t agree they are Ripleys copies.
