MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 12:55 AMJust heard from my brother he had read an interview in which Ridley scott was quoted saying the reason for the attempted destruction of earth was because the last engineer they sent as an ambassador(think thats the word) was crucified... i,e jesus and for them that was the final straw. Now I'm not 100% sure of the source but this was incredibly interesting for me to hear anyway :)

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:01 AMSeems like it was something they didn't actually include, but were thinking about including here's the question answer I'm talking about
"Movies.com: You throw religion and spirituality into the equation for Prometheus, though, and it almost acts as a hand grenade. We had heard it was scripted that the Engineers were targeting our planet for destruction because we had crucified one of their representatives, and that Jesus Christ might have been an alien. Was that ever considered?
RS: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an “our children are misbehaving down there” scenario, there are moments where it looks like we’ve gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, “Lets’ send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it. Guess what? They crucified him. "

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:06 AMThe timeline might kinda match's , 2000 years 'give or take' was when Jesus walked the Earth.
.
. another theory would be that the Engineers were pissed that Humans were beginning to worship 'ONE god' and not THEM anymore . . .

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:18 AMusing the context of the movie, i think Jesus was the reconstituted Sacrifice Engineer in human form. Through his family's bloodline and the infinite possibilities of DNA, somehow, he was "born again". He doesnt need a biological father because he IS the father.
He achieved immortality through self sacrifice, which is anathema to the Fallen Angels (Igigi, Watchers, Archons). They wanted to wipe us out because they saw that "Prometheus Lives" and he told the humans how to as well. They cant have this. The only answer is total ELE type weapons. Xenos. They have to wipe out everything because as long as the DNA of the sacrifice engineer survives, all the life it has created will continue to evolve and be reborn. Forever. Everything alive on the planet is pretty much this one engineer's gene pool.
Weyland represents the fallen angels point of view. When the awakened SJ realizes what weyland wants he reacts like Lucifer does to Gabriel in "The Prophecy". He says "There can only be one hell, and it is MINE".

MemberOvomorphJun-11-2012 11:19 PMi do agree, but one problem is how did a bunch of regular humans have the strength to take down an engineer and put him on the crucifying cross, and also wouldn't the engineer break out of the ropes and run away. also, wouldn't the humans notice that he is like 7 foot 9 and pale white and ripped

MemberOvomorphJul-20-2012 5:02 AMMaybe it was actually the Deacon that was the 'Jesus' figure in all this...
Can't believe i'm doing this but here goes...
When Jesus was crucified and died - he was buried in a cave/tomb (which by the way I don't understand why they say ANOTHER tomb when it's the only one we see them encounter)
When Jesus was resurrected he pushed the stone in front of his tomb had been pushed to one side - now what do we see that could be symbolic of that with the "resurrected" Deacon

That sac. It looks 'bouder-ish'.
I know it's not coming from behind the mural but it's indicative being referred to as that "tomb" they didn't even look behind it so how would they know?
Jesus is the flesh and blood of God - Engineers are the creators of life which in turn they seem as the true gods - all the Christianity, human God and Jesus believing goes out the windows
As we are the creators of life - albeit artificial - and to quote Weyland and that time "we are the gods now"
Gods son in Weyland's lifetime - David. Possibly why he's "killed" by the engineer as he's not the true son of a true god? As Jesus really wasn't the human manifestation of the son of God all along either.
As is Weyland killed, easily I might add, as he is clearly not immortal, and will never be a God.
Mix into this, Christmas day, unexpected pregnancies and it all has this unnerving connection that I thought even I could overlook - but clearly I just haven't.

MemberOvomorphJul-20-2012 5:19 AMRidley Scott himself got OFF the idea Christ beeing an engineer..he says literally:
" RS: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. "
so, case closed for speculation.
and the Deacon as Christ reference..get real..
cheers

MemberOvomorphJul-20-2012 11:39 AMNot ACTUALLY christ - but a similar thread that runs through it.

MemberOvomorphJul-20-2012 11:50 AMWere there other 'Enginneers' in the history of the human race?? And were they sacrificed,,crucufied..rejected by the people of the earth?
I am not convinced that the 'God,,Saints..ect. are part of the Engineers' plan for the creation of our species.
Sounds ,more like humans inventing stories to to explain their interactions with Engineers..through the ages.
The murals sort address that point..without all the religious talk..
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life
