My take on the Engineers.

However this just doesn’t add up. Why would a race coveted for creating life be so hell-bent on its destruction? I then began to replay the initial meeting between the humans and the awoken Engineer. The Engineer was almost scared or startled when everyone was yelling at him. He didn’t know what was going on or what they were even saying.
I didn’t notice at first but after replaying the scene in my head, I became very curious to David’s motives when he spoke to the engineer. Whatever he said, I don’t think he said what Weyland wanted him to say but rather what would incite the Engineer to violence with the end goal of killing Weyland. Almost as if he said, “We’re all infected and we will soon spread. Please exterminate us.” Also, the look the Engineer gave David was a look of a proud parent. As if the Engineer was marveling at his race’s creation and then, like any professional, highly trained military soldier/scientist, he took up his new task of exterminating the humans with ruthless efficiency. The Engineer’s were attempting to exterminate the humans, however I don’t think it was a task they were happy to do.
Also, why have Weylands character be played by a young actor who has been made to look like an old man? Guy Pierce will most definitely be in future movies as a young Weyland, Also, Patrick Wilson is a pretty big actor to have just a 15 second showing in. I foresee Shaw’s father having a bigger role in future Prometheus films
Finally, my last hypothesis. The Engineers needed an extermination task force capable of destroying the Xenomorph if it ever got out of control again. Enter the Predators, a race genetically designed and mentally motivated to hunt and kill the xenomorph, yeah?
