I know that in interviews, Ridley Scott called the movie a "prequel". After having just seen the movie today, it occurs to me that perhaps this is a way to restart the Alien universe. It almost seems that the movie is implying that the thing that came out of Shaw was the first facehugger, and the thing that broke out of the Engineers chest was the first Xenomorph. Now, Alien vs. Predator (which takes place in our time) indicates that the Xenomorphs have been around for many thousands of years. Obviously, these two ideas conflict with each other. Also, if this is an "Alien Reset", it could explain why Space Jockey dies in the shuttle instead of the pilot's seat where they found him in Alien. Of course, there is the issue of the fact that Prometheus takes place on LV-223 and Alien took place on LV-426. Intentional, or simply a continuity goof? Thoughts?

That's a thought, but I must say it's one of the most open-ended movies I've ever seen, I dont feel that there's any real conclusion to and about it like the previous Alien movies had, or maybe he's following his own formula. But either way, reboot/reset? I don't really see it.
