Is Elizabeth Shaw the new Ripley?

The first one she was just getting by trying to survive, got some luck to go along with smarts, good instincts, and quick reactions. Which is exactly what Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) did in Prometheus. Plus she was the one who flew off going to search for the engineers homeworld. I hope they have more, and i got a feeling that all she went through will harden her to where she's a butt kicker in the next movie and so on.

I touched on this in a recent post since alot of people were talking about the similarities and differences between the two. I am also seeing alot of people asking if they are related. My story mentioned above has a link below:

I hope not, if they do a sequel I hope they get a better female lead (like Yvonne Strahovsky for example).

There's no way I can see her standing there with a high powered rifle / grenade launcher / flame thrower telling the Queen "Get away from her, you *bitch!* "
Ripley blows her away by a mile and then some more.

Shaw and David are in the next movie.
Quote from RS:
Interviewer: My question is how far have you thought? Or have you talked to Damon (Lindelof) about where the possibility of a sequel will go? Have you already opened those doors in terms of you already know where these answers are and it’s just a matter of making it or are you sort of like “We will think about that a little bit assuming the movie is a hit. Let’s talk later.”
Scott: It’s a bit of each. You do a bit of each and I’ve opened the doors. I know where it’s going. I know that to keep him alive is essential and to keep her alive is essential and to go where they came from, not where I came from, is essential. That’s a pretty open door and then rather than going to that, I don’t see landing in a place that looks like paradise, that’s not how it’s going to be. There is a plan, yeah.

No, she's not the new Ripley, but she is the strong female hero, in a very different way.
Ripley was strong, action oriented, and outspoken and if you imagine her in the room with Janek and Shaw, where Janek's priority is making sure "none of shit comes home" and Shaw's is to find out why humans were created and now why we are targetted, Ripley is in the "I don't care why" camp, and if she had the option "nuke the site from orbit".
Ripley is obviously tough, whereas Shaw appears small and meek but has a toughness that is more subtle and less action oriented .
Look at Ripley in Alien. She really asserts herself about Qurantine even when it's Kane, who she knows well that is in trouble. (Vickers wasted a guy she hardly knew, but she did have to actually kill him, not just keep a door closed)
The meeting-room scene with the Weyland Yutani suits also sees her be very direct with these guys. And in battle who else could make famous "Get away from her you Bitch".
look at Shaw and Fifield. He towers over her, gets in her face, and while she seems passive, she's not submissive, she keeps eye contact and dismisses him with an insincere "Thank you". She subtly seeks backup from Holloway, but she's not panicked when he just shrugs.
Hard to say if she's less practical than Ripley in letting the biologist walk away, considering the circumstances. she may have thought it was more trouble to keep him, but Ripley seemed to always think of what was needed and make sure she got it, and if she had to, she could inspire the team - like how she got Hudson to stop freaking out.
She's quick enough to grab an axe when she hears banging noises, but I've a feeling that we'll also see her in a battle of wits, not just with David, but with some Engineer types as well (she seems to be a genius)

Well Janek saves the world and Shaw. And then does Shaw leave the planet thanks to the knowledges of David. But anyway I agree in the fact that she becomes a warrior.
