Yes, I know, it's sci-fi, it's a movie, blah blah blah.............. And: it's still a question whether or not it matters. And no, it doesn't matter how hyper-sleep was invented, but, since everynody else here is pointing out the fallacies, why can't I? It's just one of those little annoying things that kinda "wrecked" the movie for me. I WILL SEE IT AGAIN IN THEATERS THOUGH! This time 2D; 3D was awesome, but sometimes too distracting.....

Like many pre-recorded shows, it might also be that it was actually scripted and possibly rehearsed. It's not too far fetched to think that Vickers knew what was about to happen and therefore made sure that all were sitting. Or alternatively that Shaw and Holloway had been previously instructed to do that to add to the effect. It is of secondary importance, and it doesn't necessarily require Weyland to be actually interacting from his cryo-bed (though it could be an option, of course).

Because Weyland was tied in to hologram while in his stasis bed. Remember David being told to "try harder". Weyland was not totally asleep. I believe he his body function was slowed to a point but he still could communicate to David so it makes sense that his project was not a pre-recorded hologram but actually him from his stasis bed. This is my opinion but it helps me to justify that scene.

He doesn't? But I don't think this is something that matters too much? It doesn't really interfere with the plot. I suppose that's like saying 'how the hell did they invent hyper-sleep?'. Comparatively: that premise is waaaaaay more troubling than how Weyland knew where they were sitting. But even so...that doesn't matter too much either? You've got to swallow some untenable premises for [i]any[/i] film to work. But to answer your questions: I have no clue!
