The dust storm...yes...check this out...I say David8 Triggered it the moment he touched the door panel and the goo on it !!! you actually see the moving panels on the murals coincide with the first shots of the storm.

@David1 Yea I read it LOL, hard to read the first half of it cause he tore me knew one in it but I smiled and PM'd BH about it! @Snorky, I heard that explanation at first and just went along with it but after seeing the film several times now I feel that my explanation works better for me. Yes, good observation. The Prometheus myth parallels abound. Funny that some say that there are no parallels regarding the myth in the film. @Shawluv:D...The storm materializes BEFORE David puts the urn in his bag. Janek sees the storm brewing, then contacts the crew and tells them they have to haul ass David then puts the urn in the bag. However he did pick up the urn before that. It seems to me the storm starts exactly as the murals in the ampule room begin to change which I think coincides with David picking up the urn to move a little out of site and inspect it.

The Engineers can read memories?......well, since they're supposedly just like us (albeit superior), maybe they have some ability, akin to what David can do by observing a sleeper's dreams....but to observe one's memories or dreams requires a bunch of technological add-ons and material, whereas the Engineer can do it without needing what we need.... ....wonder if it has to do with what the Engineer was wearing. Now that I think about it, the "pressure suit" looks like a skin-augmentation, almost like an exoskeleton. I wonder if it was their method of evolving, by going into hypersleep while letting the biomechanical stuff augment to their bodies over time.....

Looked to me like a touch, like a Vulcun nerve pinch or better...mind meld...look for it carefully next time you see that scene, there is, in the engineers eyes as he studys David8 a tiny moments realization in a light and gentle touch just over the right temporal lobe area and then he Yanks him Up by the neck to make sure everyone understands this Robot is being Terminated!

"had to" I don't know, but I am quite positive that was Part Of The Punishment To Mankind for stealing the fire like in the real mythology which also included the failed attempt to drop a lot of Black Goo On Earth !

Did not notice some of these specific things; however, I thought it was fairly obvious that David stealing the ampule was another reference to the myth. Also, Prometheus is credited with creating man along with another titan, so I do not see how people do not get the connection with the name of the film. Moreover, the Greeks took alot of what they knew from the Persians and the Romans from the Greeks, and we finally get some ties to Christianity. There are some major editing errors with this film, but you know what, it is still so gorgeous and fascinating that they are minor.

I don't think the engineer read David's mind.If that was the case why did he kill everyone else then decide to plot a course to earth to kill everyone there too?.. He also seems to show a tiny bit of emotion for the android just before tearing his head off.Its clearly in response to what is said to him.Because we don't know what David said,it has to be something other than was asked of him.Otherwise why no subs?.

you just answered your own question, because David8 messed with and then stole some of their fire, their most valued possession and the Key To Life In The Universe. Or he just as Snorkelbottom said despised mankind for even attempting to interfere and for just making a replicant of themselves which is an insult to their creator engineer...and just being in that chamber which I am sure is most sacred to him like a living room is to us, He killed them All because they ALL had a part in it, even Shaw whom he attempted to kill as well. The idea to plot a course to earth was his mission to begin with, he was just fulfilling it now that he had been awakened by David8 and at that point he was not going to let anything interfere with his own mission. It's a military installation and operation they were undertaking to Terra Form Earth ! It Clearly got interrupted 2000 years ago when one of the SJ's became pregnant with a "DEACON" {Milburn and Fifield comment on the bursted out chest on one of the Jockeys corpses they find in the tunnels}

LOL man great post but It's not reading minds~ come on people~It reads the digital imprint on a chip. It, {The SJ/Engineer} can tell from scanning the stored data that David8 has "stolen they're fire and brought it out of their temple and on board Prometheus !!! But He CLEARLY is not just punishing it for being a Robot IMHO, he is punishing it for it's own actions.
