Does Ridley Scott know what he's doing?

Interesting reading the threads. Reminds me of all the talk about the Matrix movies. I have to assume R.Scott has thought out the other 2 movies very well. Just to make the movie as ambiguous as it is must have required hours and hours of talks with writers, producers, actors, etc. So I assume like the Star Wars movies it's all pretty well thought out. HOWEVER one thing bugs me and makes me lose a little confidence. I can make lists of questions like everybody else but I just wanna talk about one thing that bugs me. Maybe it's NOT so well thought out. Everybody probably knows that they used kids in suits to ramp up the scale of the space jockey for the ALIEN movie. But something got seriously lost in the "Continuity" department. Couple of other questions I haven't read yet. 1). Why did the engineer chase Shaw in the end. Why not just use one of the other ships in those silos and take care of her from above? 2). If they created us why tell ancient man how to find them, and then be hell bent on killing us? I don't think they wanted us to find them. Cave drawings that you hope people find, and I still don't get how that would help anyway.

I read an interesting solution to #1. Engineer was after Shaw b/c of what she was saying before it attacked everybody. She knows too much? Although a weak answer it is plausible.

#2... They were cool with humans (down with OPP, etc.) until men in skirts started running around with swords and misbehaving........Romans. Human might have been collected for their experiments, or used as slaves. The maps could have been a warning as to where not to visit -or- to visit to be included in experiments. Very good question. The school is really out until more info is released.

But then again somebody made an interesting point that they wouldn't know our language since this engineer was in stasis so long there was no such thing as the english language. What do you guys think about the "CONTINUITY" problems with proportions? For being the big thing that ties the movies together they sure are off.

Yes...period. The real question is does the audience know what he's doing? It seems what he's doing with Prometheus has flown over a lot of people's heads only for the laggers behind to catch up later as was the case with Blade Runner and, to a degree, Alien.

You also need to read the posts as I'm having problems with the "edit post" function and the first post is not entirely updated. BH is trying to fix the problem, though.

As far as the size differences I've said it once and I'll say it 1000 more times...DESIGN CHANGES. Not that big of a deal to people who don't get on the net and compare pics from Alien to pics from Prometheus which is most of the movie gowing public. Not everyone are obsessive freaks like us lol.

You just know it will still leave some things open, maybe answer others..just had a thought.. First, we get the teaser trailer, then the real trailer, then a bunch of trailers, then a bunch of leaked images, then some behind the scenes clips and a assortment of other stuff...then we get..Prometheus, which is edited down from top to bottom..happy theaters owners there..then we realize that the full film is a teaser trailer for the DVD version..which leaves some things open and answers others. What are they gonna do to us with Prometheus 2?....whatever it is, I'm well prepared. Hopefully.

There's a solution to the question of why the Space Jockey in ALIEN isn't the same scale as the Engineer in Prometheus. It's because the Engineer is shorter. Look at how the head of the Space Jockey in ALIEN is above the back of the chair. [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/gallery/view/img/336]Engineer[/url] Here's another shot showing the chair is huge compared to the Engineer. [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/gallery/view/img/331]Engineer standing[/url] The Engineer in Prometheus is much shorter than the Space Jockey in ALIEN, by several feet I would think. I guess they aren't all clones. Maybe the Space Jockey is a superior/taller/older version of the Engineer. Maybe the one we saw in ALIEN isn't a biosuit, but an actual being that looks like that and the biosuits for the Engineers were just patterned off of the 'original', so to speak. I don't think the "scale is off/that's a plot hole" so much as we haven't seen the larger being that the crew of the Nostromo find a corpse of. Yet.
