Good theory!

Problem is they don't talk about the drawings much other than to say it's a map. They really glossed over all the details of them. I also think it's ridiculous for that to be the map for us to find them. There are better ways to do that. Cave man drawings? And how can 5 circles lead anybody to them? There must be over a million 5 planet systems just in our galaxy which takes light over 100,000 years to get from one end to the other.

The key here is when man is intelligent enough to figure it all out...that makes the diffrence and not some scrbblings on the wall. The monolith in 2001 is triggered when man lands on the moon...that would take space flight to get there...makes sense ..?

6 circles, I believe. 6 points to be exact. The necessary components to identify an object in 3 dimensional space.

Constellations only work from a single perspective point, namely Earth. When you show 6 stars in a certain configuration in 2 dimensions, it reveals what these stars look like together when viewed only from a single point. This doesn't change even after hundreds of thousands of years. If you traveled a hundred light years in any direction, none of the constellations would be recognizable because each star is a different distance from earth. The distance between, and relation of these 6 stars is what makes it uniquely recognizable as a single match in our celestial hemisphere. They were the directions in Stargate. "A million years into the sky is Ra. Sealed and buried for all time, his Stargate." Oops i forgot Prometheus stoled the star map idea from Stargate.

What is the explanation of the problematic date of the Hawai‘ian petroglyph? Are the Hawai‘hans supposed to have brought the image with them as a racial memory?

There's no problem with Hawai'i. The problem was with Shaw. She's inclined to jump to conclusions based on beliefs rather than a full inquiry of facts. And David, except for introducing himself, never says anything that is plain, and contains all the information. He omits, or vaguely states things when he wants a double meaning, which he expects the right one to be taken by the listener. This way he didn't 'lie" which his programming prohibits, but he misled, and they did the interpretation themselves. It also helps that David knows everyones subconscious through their dreams and so he knows what angle to take. Shaw asks David why the engineer is going to Earth. He gives a very vague answer. David 8 is very smart. If he wanted her to know that this things was going to wipe out humanity, he would say "It's going to wipe out humanity"... unless it's a lie, and his programming won't let him say that. So he says "sometimes to create you have to destroy". She asks him no follow up question "what do you mean" being an obvious example... She just goes to her biblical interpretation... Armageddon. That's it. Beyond that, there's no proof that this is a genocie mission rather than Igor fetching more bodies for Dr. Frankenstein's lab. As for the map... top right 'dot' is actually OUR solar system. This image is taken from THEIR perspective, not ours. It's a hint that some of the people they took on their ships (and showed them the 3D holograms) came back and drew the maps.

Shawluv... were you not told in Alien that the source of thew signal is from a small moon in the Zeta 2 Reticuli system? Zeta 2 Exists. So do Gliese 86, This here map is not something this film came up with. It's an interpretation of directions from an 'alien abduction' case, not proof of anything, but someone used real stars, including OUR Sun, to make a pattern, showing things from THEIR perspective, not ours. Just like the original Alien used Zeta 2 from the Hill Abduction case, Prometheus uses the map based on it. Gliese 86 matches the distance travelled by Prometheus in the film.

Those cave drawings don't point to LV 223. Folks I did a thread on this some time back. Search function before starting new threads anyone? holloway finds a map, and then uses poor reasoning to exclude 5 of the 6 stars. He finds LV 223 by accident basically, but because Shaw thinks its an invitation, he reckons his thinking was correct. However, there are other suns there that while having different characteristics are also similar to our sun, and may be adequate to support life, but not 'the best fit'. Life settles for what it can get though. No known life form has been known to be able to choose it's original solar system to arise in. This is all in the neighbourhood, so one could probably fly to some of the other stars (except the top right one) and find a local outpost of the Space Jockeys, if not their home planet.
