pup detected engineer - alerted him while asleep?

So I'm wondering if the Engineer was upset upon awakening because it was alerted (while in sleep) to the intruders, the opening of the ampule room, and release of the black goo -- All because the pup got too close to the buried Juggernaut entrance. Did this pup detect the engineer's once an hour heartbeat or something when it detected a life form temporarily? I would think that the Engineer was entirely unconscious until David released him from his pod. Otherwise, I'd be pretty upset as well after 2,000 or so years of semi-conscious confinement.

Not sure what it stands for. I always thought it was a reference to them being like dogs and sniffing things out not an acronym.

The engineer might be completely unconscious, but as David said "Their cryochambers will impress." I can't help but wonder if the Engineer in his cryochamber can still be aware of what's happening [i]outside[/i], kind of like the opposite of the human one in the movie where they can only be tapped [i]into[/i].

Weyland talked to David while he was in cryo. Not far fetched to believe the Engineer knew the pup was there.

I also assumed that they were called pups because they were akin to mechanical search dogs

Oh yeah, now that we're on the topic of pups. When Janek says they're picking up a lifeform, what is it? Was that even explained?

it was the Engineer in cryo. You can see the pup stopped at the door before David opens it and enters the cockpit.

You see... when Janek says "whatever it is, it's picking up some sort of lifeform" It makes it seem as if it's supposed to scare you. Yet the Engineer simply gets awakened from Cryosleep. It doesn't awake, and start hunting everyone down... But nah. He was upset for another reason. I wish they just made it clear. Instead of making you guess, ffs.

Maybe the pup awakening the Engineer was one thing, but then when he touched David's head, his biosuit allowed him to access David's memory. Then the Engineer confirmed it was David that opened the ampule room and released the goo (on top of being an abomination in his eyes). Either way, we'll eventually need a translation of that conversation.
