Alien
MemberOvomorphJun-18-2012 5:46 AMI think that this question has been answered. If not Please look at mine.
Many people are saying why doesn't the Alien that came out of the Engineer look like the original Alien.
1) The original Alien came from a human (Kane) who had a facehugger on him from an egg. Which later a Chest buster came and the grew into the Xeno we no and love Part 1.
And in Prometheus it came out of an Engineer (also human, but not quite), but the (giant squid or octopus), (facehugger) came from a woman Shaw. However she got it from her husband who was human but changing from the black goo that David spiked in his drink, which he got from the vase. So the Alien that came from the Engineer was always gonna look slightly different from the original, but still remember that this is still a baby, which means it will grow into something much more: Stronger, Smarter and Quicker, taking that from its host the Engineer.

MemberOvomorphJun-18-2012 6:00 AMno, the HOST is just a 'nice warm place' to gestate.
nothing to do with morphology - or let me put it this way, "Any film after the 1979 original really BROKE the pure alien concept as exhibited in this original Giger painting."

DOGALIEN, PREDALIEN, come on!
Basically, the affected and intentional Gigeresque stylisation (the multiple repetitions of rib-like detail, the shiny carapace etc) permeates ALL HIS WORKS so it's really 'debatable' whether he's showing Space Jockey here? I believe this could just be 'any pilot' or spaceman who comes across the eggs gets the handthing on them, the pipething down their throat, the gestation in the guttywuts.
Space Jockey (the original 1979 sculpture Giger made/painted) was a towering ELEPHANT beast of some genetic/low-grav mischief.

MemberOvomorphJun-18-2012 6:22 AMWell there is a difference in the life cycle here, it's not just gestation, there seems to be a hybrid issue.
What impregnated Shaw was not a facehugger, but presumably an infected sperm, part Holloway, part black biofluid stuff.
The black biofluid is supposedly what enabled the sperm to overcome whatever obstacles were previously keeping Shaw infertile.

MemberOvomorphJun-18-2012 6:23 AMI think is a completely new breed from the original Xeno more advanced and I belive we will see a full cast of breeds and diferent concepts.
RS didn't wanted to go back the original Alien. He wanted to do something completely new and bigger. In the movie we see 3 new species... The engenieer, the aliencobra, the trilobite and the deacon....
And by the way, a baby deacon with umbilical cord... What would happen if this adult Deacon mates with a human female? Just wondering...
I think they have done a lot of designs and ideias that could spawn from the Prometheus movie without the need to go back into the original Xeno.
Imagine a world like PANDORA full of diferent creatures only nasty ones... I think this is the way RS wants to go and I speacially would like to see.

This is another reason this movie fails. Such a complicated and arbitrary life cycle for these new xenos. Reading the above explanation sounds like a bunch of 6 year olds inventing rules for a monster game.

MemberOvomorphJun-18-2012 8:41 AMYou guys are looking at this wrong.
These "Deacon, Trilobite/cuddles, whatever" are not more than one species. Besides the Alien Cobra, thats a different one. Basically, what in my opinion is going on, is the different life stages of the Alien. Stage one- is the vase, the original eggy goop that the Engineers have on their ships. The next stage is the finding of this goop into another person. AKA Doctor Holloway. Now, he died, without the fetus inside him which puzzles me, but we do indeed know that the goop made the fetus, so that is stage two. The fetus will at somepoint "hatch, or be given birth to" the octupus like squid thing. That grows and grows into a bloody gigantic one (the same one that fucks up the engineer). Which proves my theory. It all is stages like a caterpillar.
Another thing: Those vases? They carry if you will the first stage of the Alien life. Which means the engineers are not creators simply of humans, but of the Alien as well. What if they used us as cattle? A Massive community of hosts that the Alien's feed on? What if, and this is getting to be far fetched, but: The Engineers are getting ready to make a giant fucking army of Aliens, that feed on us, to attack their enemies? Now, who created us? Maybe we were failed experiments. They screwed up somehow, and never came back. When the engineer awakes, he tries to go strait for Earth to continue his mission. He needs to get those vases all around the ship to Earth.
