Why the Trilobite?

I finally got to see the movie on Friday night, and plan on seeing it many times over before it leaves theaters as I try to put the pieces together. First question: 1. Why did David purposely infect Dr. Holloway? My friend and I were discussing this question earlier in the evening. He said that Weyland wanted to know anything and everything about the lifeforms and engineers on LV-223, so he instructed David to do whatever it took to get as much information as possible. So he infected David by dipping his finger into Dr. Holloway's drink. An interesting parallel between Ash and David, as Ash was to protect the xenomorph and ensure its safe return to earth at all cost. 2. As the Deacon was a sort of less-evolved progenitor of the xenomorph, could the Trilobite also be a less-evolved form of the facehugger? 3. Why the trilobite at all? I'm curious about your thoughts.

I know that there is a group of thought out there that endorses the view that David is completely under the direction of Weyland, and I agree to a certain extent. But as the film progresses I see David also pursuing his own agenda in parallel to his Weyland dictated mission and I believe he infected Holloway because Holloway's statements....David gave him what he asked for. I don't think David saw him as a guinea pig, I think he completely misjudged the effects to come. As far as the Deacon and the Trilobite are concerned, I want to see the BluRay for what may be scenes that may complete the picture where those two are concerned...the film was skillfully edited from top to bottom, leaving just a taste in some places, not enough to go on conclusively

LV223 planet is a worship place to their GOD icon, Trilobite like what happens in earth as well. Animisme. But because of some reasons their god turned mad.

David also infected Holloway with Holloway's permission. Charlie told him in response to David's question of "how far would you go?" that he would do "anything and everything." David took him at his word. I don't believe that David knew exactly what would happen, but keep in mind that David had been reading everything that he came across that was legible to him in the temple. The door into the ampule (HEAD) chamber is COVERED with information. What would a door marking like that say in a modern human context? It could be anything from this: to this:

Hi, I think there are three reasons why David infected Holloway. 1. David found himself under pressure from Weyland to find answers ASAP. 2. Sukkal is right. In a twisted way, Holloway "volunteered". 3. David chose Holloway and manipulated his "permission" because he simply did not like him. Holloway was constantly remarks about David's lack of humanity that the android clearly found hurtful. Plus, the good doctor was hitting the sauce already giving up on the mission. And if you need a guinea pig it may as well be someone you can do without. :) As to whether David knew exactly what would happen. Probably not, but like sukkal says he could read the glyphs and knew Holloway wasn't going to be ringing in the New Year with Auld Lang Syne. :) Why a trilobite? It was all David had time to recover before the storm hit. If he had found the bridge sooner ge wouldn't have bothered infecting Holloway. I'm afraid I can't answer the question about ALIEN evolution and biology, only that I assumed the xenomorph that was born the end was the Queen as seen in ALIENS and would lay the eggs that attack John Hurt. I think that Ridley Scott just didn't include the facehuggers in this because he wanted take advantage of current technology to create a different method of infection.

I think the reason (in screenwriterlogic ... hmm) that it was a SQUID should have something to do with evolution processes on earth, as mankind "comes" from the sea so the dna information about squids and sea-animals is there and the goo did grave that out. Some idiotic explanation like that... maybe.. With other words - i dont have an idea and i am very sure i would have NOT choosen a SQUID at all, i would have rather choosen something like this as beloved "new born"...
