Helmet Blooper?

Hi people Just wondering wondering if I am the only one who noticed a slip up. When the away team are advised to get back to the ship as soon as possible due to the approaching sandstorm, they all rush back (apart from the fools who stay behind!). However as they approach the ship they get caught in the storm, and you see the crew being hammered by dust, stones and gravel due to the high winds. However in the next scene when you see them removing their helmets and suits, the glass on the helmets is completely unscathed. If you had just been through a storm like that, there would be scratches, scrapes and dust all of the helmets and suits. But if you look carefully, the helmets looks like they have just been delivered by Amazon and have just had the packaging taken off! So how come the helmets look brand new despite the ordeal they just came through? !! all the best Paul

I paid special attention on my subsequent viewings to exactly that scene. I was looking for scratches on the helmets and suits. Someone even said that the storm would tear their suits up, or something. They were just playing around in it like it had just snowed. At least the "garage" was full of debris. That's gonna be a fun job for somebody to clean-up. Great post and welcome to the forums!

Of course, how foolish of me. So the helmets are made of some kind of anti-static, teflon coated substance that protects them from hurtling gravel and grit. :-) So why were they worried about the storm tearing them up then? Thanks for all the responses, yes this was my first post.

Because they were made out of super gorilla glass, the gorilla glass from the future. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLXaCR6_0U0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVxj6gRYwS0

Their suits have small non invisible cloaking devices that also act like a force field when exposed to strong winds. Watch closely next time and you can see the dust and debri bounce off approximately 2 to 3 inches away from their suits. I thought it was obvious.

Even today, in our primitive world I'm wearing scratch-resistant glasses in front of my eyes.

http://collider.com/ridley-scott-damon-lindelof-michael-fassbender-prometheus-interview/153243/ Go to this site and search for "bullet". Ridley says the helmet is bullet resistant. What bothers me is: how strong was the mutated fifield to break the helmet with one blow and kill the person on the inside. Seemingly with no damage to his hands.

@David 1: Magic, or completely rational, as explained by several posters above. Do you do rational?

Viewers like ourselves are hyper aware of little things like this, but the majority of peeps probably didn't notice. Even with a huge budget, they probably didn't want to damage the suits being that they would need them to shoot other scenes. I gather that when they shoot movies they do t necessarily shoot the scenes in order. However, a little chalk and dust marked and sprinkled about would have added a nice touch. Maybe even thinkin ahead and shooting that scene last would have allowed them to damage the suits accordingly. This type of stuff happens all to often in movies.
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

Ok this really is a tiny problem compared with the big ones so its not the end of the world. Would of been nice if there suits n glass was scuffed up making it look more dangerous - but they didn't seem to care for such things in this film :( ....
