Actress Sigourney Weaver let it slip in an interview that the Titanic director plans to film three additional Avatar films all at once. While promoting the USA mini-series Political Animals, Weaver told Showbiz411 that Cameron will make Avatar 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously, although she admitted that she has no idea how long this will take or how Cameron plans to do it. “I just show up,” she told the site. According to Entertainment Weekly, Weaver, who first worked with Cameron in 1986’s Aliens, said that she will start working on the films after she finishes her run in Christopher Durang’s production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which starts on Nov. 12. She also has to finish her work on Political Animals, which could be renewed for a second season. Weaver’s comments come after Cameron told The New York Times, “I’m in the Avatar business. Period. That’s it.” He added, “...That all sounds I suppose a little bit restricted, but the point is I think within the Avatar landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it. And doing it in an entertaining way. And anything I can’t say in that area, I want to say through documentaries, which I’m continuing." The original Avatar was released in 2009 and became the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing Cameron’s Titanic. It won three Oscars and was nominated for Best Picture.
