prometheus and mission to mars

Before I start, I did a search and found no similar post /// .so...Recently was needing a sci- fi fix, so I dug out the movie :Mission to Mars: popped it in and dang if the story is not the same as prometheus, an invitation, contact, an oray of planets,a ship, and the DNA to start life, oh and we were a match to the Mars alien DNA...just like sampling music, sure seams prometheus was told on a familiar note, just twisted up sum.......been on the side lines for a while, reading and reading all of what each and everyone of you write , alot of smart MOFO's on here :), alot of very DEep people too, (thats a good thing, we need your kind) But what keeps me here for all these months, is the characters ya'll created to your fellow man/woman. Congrats to all here for being TRUELY great people/human beings.....Now, How long before we get a go/ no go on prome 2....and...I need a waffle....with icecream.:)

Nice thread @Chumbrother. The fact is that what you just stated in Mission to Mars, and Prometheous has been spoken, and written about before. By the famous author Erich Von Daniken. He wrote various books on the extraterrestrial origin of the human species. His most famous one being The Chariots of the Gods. Pick that book up its very insightful.

Haven't seen it but it's obviously the same story from your description. I give you the credit for finding this out. You might just find out what gave you that urge to watch Mission to Mars though if you read my recent topic and the following replies! I think we all may have unlocked the secret to Prometheus! Check out my "A more down to Earth theory" post and let me know what you think.

@ Deftones, yes sir, I have been reading your posts,:) alot of excellent insight to How prome. was conceived and the underlying story that we may all have past up on especially me , thankyou, and keep posting :)...@Rubi, I have heard of Erich Von Daniken, havent read any of his writings, But I surly will look into it, thankyou..:) and @Freeplanet,, just watched the trailer u posted to M2M...never really looked at the trailer,I agree whats thats music?, lol, and is D.Vader in the room somewhere,..its just the ending of M2M shows the same DNA (ladder) straind as in prometheus, totally caught me off gaurd,after I saw that, I grabed the DVD sleeve and looked for the writer..lol it wasn't not that Lindle -off-an houser guy..lol BTW how does he get all the sci-fi gigs from studios?, surly there are better screenwriters, a space 1999/2099 REBOOT would be right on time, just keep him off it..

Sounds like a good guide to start ones own movie.... On another thread something of this storyline was mentioned,,Humans have an inquirering mind,,,it is what make us human. Now if there is some 'overseer' that every few years causes a new movie..book..even event to keep humans looking at their world in thoughtful manner,,,,,,now that would be a blockbuster,,

I just sort of stumbled into the movie 'Mission to Mars'' abd darn if there are similar story elements connected 'Prometheus'.. In addition to what Chumbrother has mentioned I notice other similiarities,,,.. Last member of previous race.. giant face... a crew member choosing to go on a space journey to the unknown..instead of heading for Earth,, and of course Mars.. Wasn't there a Weyland base/connection to Mars? Though there are several connections.... the plots evolve under different circumstances.. our movie was better presented... No android though..
