The "organic" substance david comes into contact with on the controls in the tun

Anyone got any thoughts, ideas of relevance to what this may have? Or how it got there? It seemed to be a much thicker, tackier substance between his fingers, and also had the activity happening when he stretched it between them.

After watching 'Ghostbusters' last night my vote is 'slime'.. You are right in that it certainly got David's attention,,,but other events sort of buried this scene,, Just knowing how it got there would explain alot..

Dang Slimer, I told him to wash his hands..LOL :) sorry had to go there, Theres no way that 2000 year old slime, goo, KY would stay in that form that long, something, or someone had to have been there recently, but who, as its only on the left side controls in the groove, and I believe David, contacted the control board on the right side and moved to the left, I could be wrong.would have to watch it again. but the enginneers dont have slimly hands, maybe something was thrown at the wall and broke open, and the black goo fell onto the ground and the slippy stuff (that encases the vials) remained on the wall, I have no clue, Im just reaching..... was very odd to see that, My first thought was a xeno is near...BUT NO....

it's very concentrated Higgs-boson, aka the engineer-particle Yes, David looking at it made it look quite important, but i have no clue on what it could be. I guess it's the slime like good ol Xeno used to have. If that's so i guess there is no reason it can't stay in that form, a Xeno is nothing that we know of on earth, our rules don't have to apply on him.

It is my belief that the moment he {David8} disturbed that environment by touching that panel... THAT HE TRIGGER THE SANDSTORM HIMSELF AS WELL, HE WAS THE DO'ER OF ALL OF THE FILMS WORST DEEDS...AND PERHAPS... The single worst constructed Android, story wise, {in it's BEHAVIOUR in the story I mean} in the history of film!

"...THAT HE TRIGGER THE SANDSTORM HIMSELF AS WELL, HE WAS THE DO'ER OF ALL OF THE FILMS WORST DEEDS..." This storm has been mentioned from time to time on various threads....but perhaps it deserves it's own topic..because there are many storylines that thwe storm created.. Is this the only place that slime was found..on the initial search? About the timeing of the storm and it's almost immediate appearence is highly suspect..it even surprised the Captain.. It is almost like somebody/entity wanted to separate the crew members from the ship.. Could David have been the cause??

I thought somebody mentioned on another thread that it was Xeno slime and that you could hear a Xeno scream during the holograms.

Hell knows... yeah should be a hint to xenomorph has been there some time ago, like slime in all alien movies was their "fingerprint". But maybe its something else? Hell how i hate this riddle-raddle-ding-dong scripting...

The substance on the wall/door controls that David rubs between his fingers, could it be the same as the ooze he admired dancing/moving atop the ampule in the head room ? Another thing about the ooze that caught my attention, in Alien after Kane falls into the egg troth and approaches the egg there is a very quick scene of a greyish ooze moving eraticly before the scene pans to a side veiw of him looking over it. So the substance wouldn't be entirely new to Prometheus. I appologize if this has allready been hashed out , I did not see it anywhere else here or find it in a search.

It looked like there were tiny particles suspended in the goo (nanites?) After he smelled the stuff, he had a very surprised look and said : "fascinating" or words to that effect. He then instantly knew the code per se. I wrote this weeks ago after seeing the film. I called it the "Olfactory Key" as (IMHO) it looked as though scent or smell translated to knowledge.

Perhaps David’s got his fingers on the ultimate life force, the goo of life that creates everything, the universal life or consciousness substance which the Engineers work with to seed life on planets and which produces the xenomorph if you’re not very, very careful. Didn’t Ash say in Alien that he admired its, the creature’s, purity and that it was the ultimate survivor? The goo on the control panel had probably been there since its depositor killed the Engineers 2000 years before. Never losing its viscosity or its life changing power. Just lying on the panel, waiting. And then an android comes along.

The film itself CLEARLY in my mind showed the result of him touching that panel, was a sandstorm coming immediately and at that exact moment, at least that's the way I interpreted it, but then again...I may nave been wasted! For me the substance itself in the air like that on a panel like that has to mean some other life form was there as I will always associate it with a Xenomorph. It might have been a Deacon or Hammerpede or something else, but something alive touched that Panel before David8 did that's How I see the substance itself.

perhaps even one of the engineers.

Hell, i hate this.. In ALL other alien movies, we knew what happens when the actors get to some "slime" - the aliens are close. But here - oh SLIME between FINGERS.. of DAVID.. wow.. that must MEAN something? But what does it mean? NOTHING! HELL! Thats why so many people are disappointed - the movie gets to some direction - but it is allways a blind alley... damn... does ridley have a sick sense of humour in his old days or what the hell... i could still get angry about these things... Will i ever come over it?

I think its from a Deacon. This is supported by the bodies that Fifield and Millburn discovered had something burst from the inside; and at the end of the movie we see that the Deacon also bursts from the inside of Bob. Also, the slime was found in the same tunnel that the Engineers were being chased by something. Perhaps a Deacon?

"...when the actors get to some "slime" - the aliens are close.." Yes and it was not 'created' in our time frame by the intrusion of the humans on Prometheus(like the 'worms' being able to start their growth by the intrusion of humans) A human response to discovering the 'slime' would be an instinctive warning,,something is dangerous,, An adroid response to the same discovery.is inquisitive,,then dismissive..as he aready knew the implications..and chose to hide the find from the other crew members..

Yea anything organic lasting 2000 years with out change does seem difficult to understand. Something left by the engineers has a possiblity,,, We know the 'slime' is associated with aliens,,but who is to say it is not a lure,,of somekind ... something the Engineers needed to deal with the non humans threatening their lives,,
