Space Jockey

MemberOvomorphJuly 10, 2012777 Views12 RepliesI just viewed the movie today and loved it. I wanted to know if someone can enlighten me as to why the space jockey did not die in the ship as he was found from the crew of the nostromo but instead was chasing after Dr. Shaw. Where did that space jockey come from in ALIEN?

Mel, at this point in the 2 Sci Fi films Ridley Scott has done in outer space, it is not exactly known where the Space Jockey in "Alien" came from...lots of theories and ideas, but still unclear.

exactly, not the same engineer, not the same planet, not the same ship on LV426

The Jockey in Alien comes form a place as yet undisclosed ! We assume it comes from that same place Shaw is on her way too right now as we speak!!!
Which raises a lot of other questions and possible scenerios too, like she has no opp for stasis so she'll be dead by the time they get there most likely and ou know many more like that !!!

This warning that Shaw leaves could you, or would you say that it is the distress/warning that the Nostromo found? I am going to see Prometheus again. Could this be LV 426?

@mel: could what be lv 426? do you mean the planetoid traveled to in Prometheus? if so, no. Most of the events depicted in Prometheus take place on LV 223. LV 426 is a different planetoid. As has been stated, the engineer/derelict craft in alien (takes place on lv 426) is clearly from the same race of beings (engineers, space jockeys etc) as those elaborated on in Prometheus, but it is NOT the same engineer/craft depicted in Prometheus. Different, but presumably related events. Keep in mind, all information at our disposal points to the fact that the Derelict craft that crash landed on LV 426 (and found in the movie alien) pre-dates (probably by thousands of years if not many more) the adventures of Dr. Shaw, holloway, David, and the rest of the team that we get to know in Prometheus. Glad you enjoyed the film! Your second viewing should be more rewarding...particularly because you now are in possession of info that should DRAMATICALLY increase your understanding of the events depicted within. As others have said, this forum is quite fun as well as educational. take care.
