MemberOvomorphJul-13-2012 6:33 PMOkay so I see a lot of places where there could be a possible Prometheus - Blade Runner crossover. So here are three points to start off the thread.
1) In the 2023 TED talks, Peter Weyland says humanity now has the technology to make a robot virtually indistinguishable from humans. 2023 is 4 years after Blade Runner's date of 2019 and I believe Weyland purchased the Tyrell Corporation after the replicant Rob Batty killed CEO Eldon Tyrell.
2) Weyland says that David is closer than the son he never had but there are indications that is daughter Meredith Vickers is no more human than David. First off, Weyland appears 100 YO and Vickers appears 30 which means Weyland was ~ 70 YO when he fathered her. Possible but unlikely. On top of this, Vickers acts like a robot until confronted by the Captain ("are you a robot" where she replies "Meet me in my quarters in 10 minutes"). Clearly she is going out of her way to hide the fact that she is not human. David hides this fact as well and is only seen smiling when others will not notice.
3) In Blade Runner, the replicants are back on Earth to get more life (but things do not go well). In Prometheus, Weyland is aboard the ship to get more life (but things do not go well)

[/list]No, there can't be. The BR universe is a lot more advanced. BR replicants are so andvanced you need to perform a VK test to see if theyre real. Prometheus' universe you could determine if someone's a robot much more easily- they bleed white.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 4:32 AMas with my thesis about Blade Runner ALL THE WORLD IS MADE OF REPLICANTS, it might be that ALL THE UNIVERSE is now populated with replicants though some believe it less than others.
:)
Self-denial or white-blood misdirection... you could EASILY tie Blade Runner into Prometheus into WHY THE WORLD ENDED, oh, no, but then this becomes MATRIX trilogy, again....
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 5:29 AMYears ago I read more than once that the Weyland logo appears subtly in Blade Runner.I know ATARI is in there.I'm currently looking for proof of the Weyland logo on the web along with my Blu-Ray Blade Runner copy that'll be arriving soon. The Weyland logo supposedly appears in one of the street scenes...somewhere...in amongst the 3000 neon signs...somewhere..plain as day :)

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 7:50 AM@djrees But Easter eggs don't prove anything. Theres a Star Trek ship flying around in the Coruscant background in The Phantom Menace. There are Star Wars references in the Indy movies. It doesnt mean anything. It's just for shits and giggles.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 8:45 AMEverything is placed in the movie for a reason...even it is for "..shits and giggles..."
AS I recall in BR product/company placement was everywhere..
Not so in Prometheus...Could Weyland Corp be so large..so in-house..that others were not needed?
It would be curious as to what companies would want their name 'placed on the Prometheus.
I mean a 'Commadore 64' label on the Ship's computer console would be a nice touch..

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 9:24 AMSorry, there's nothing that I'd like to see more but it's not going to happen. First off, Warner Bros. owns BR and Fox owns the Alien Franchise and Prometheus. A possible crossover of these films wouldn't bring nearly enough money for both companies in order to do it. I mean, if adding Spiderman to The Avengers flick wouldn't bring in enough to get that deal done then this definitely won't. It's just not going to happen.
And as far as Alien easter eggs or the Weyland logo in BR I think you've been misiformed. In the scene in BR when Gaff pics up Deckard and their Spinner is ascending there is a screen layout that says "purge" and some other jargon. That was taken from Alien and used in BR. No Weyland logo though.

MemberOvomorphJul-14-2012 9:25 AMWhile I don't think there will be an "official" crossover I do think that Scott-if he is able to do both films-will give subtle nods and hints that they are, in fact, in the same universe.

MemberOvomorphJul-15-2012 12:06 AM@Llac.I didn't know about the Star Trek ship in Star Wars...cool :)There's also a couple of Spinners fying around in Attack of the Clones at the beggining .I'm not refering to an easter egg.I'm talking about an advert sign that displays the Weyland logo right there in the Blade Runner story.
The Spinner purge screen was cool because that scene was taken from Alien and placed in BR.The "making of" documentary stated it was a money & time saver because Riddley owned the rights to that scene anyway.

MemberOvomorphJul-15-2012 7:53 AMPrometheus = Mechanical androids. BR = Biological (More Human Than Human).
I was watching RS's "Black Rain" last night and saw so many BR elements in that film. You can tell that's Scott's film.

MemberOvomorphJul-15-2012 8:33 AM"..Prometheus = Mechanical androids.."
If what seems to us that the Weyland androids are (to us) advanced ,,why not have 2..3..or 10 androids on the Prometheus..?
Especially on a trip with a goal...travelling into an unknown world..needing a wide range of scientific testing/observations...and evaluating an alien (to us) civilization.
