Personally I have stopped reading reviews as i think there are too many people reading in to things, at the end of the day i think Alien left loads of unanswered questions too.
I saw the film in IMAX and for what its worth i thought it looked great so lets not get too hooked up on the fact that this was an IMAX conversion and not filmed in IMAX.
As for the film I thought it was paced really well,
The story is pretty thought provoking for a Science fiction. The film definitely leaves you with a wanting for more and on a personal note this will be one that gets added to my DVD collection, most hopefully as some sort of special edition.
This is a 9 out if 10 film. Loved it.

For us at the only viewing I thought the pacing was slow in the middle ..more like a drama as the scenes just went by....and then the events leading up to the conclusion was about the right speed(except for the Flight crew..quickly deciding to attack the Juggernaut..and self sacrifice.).

The engineers expression when he saw the face hugger said it all.Brute strength one could feel the muscle strains as he tried to free himself
Cons:Captain of Prometheus miscast.not convincing. Powers Booth would have been my choice . Guy pearce did not feature enough. Would have liked flashbacks as to when he was young and how he met Yutani.Got silly when the crew became infected.weaponry v crude for a civilisation that can build synthetic humanoids.Meeting the team smacked of Ripley meeting her crew for debriefing in aliens.Theron dying an incredible waste:).wouldn't we all live happily ever after w her on the planet?!
Overall a great movie that had to live up to huge expectations and I believe Scott did that .
