MemberOvomorphJul-15-2012 10:19 PMMany have asked why the Engineers created us only to want to destroy us. My theory goes like this:
If they initially "seeded" Earth millions of years ago, I think it is fairly safe to say that they had changed and advanced technologically a lot in that time period and not necessarily for the better (think how much humans have changed in a few thousand years). What were perhaps a peaceful race of beings who wanted to create life, eventually evolved into a warlike race that knew only war and destruction? Things rarely stay the same.

I can't disagree.
The idea that the Engineers’ civilization has endured for millions of years is quite dubious to me in the first place. But if it in fact has, it will likely have changed radically—in many different cycles—over that time.

which is more advantageous.....
evolving to produce the 'best' that suits your environment for survival of the fittest
or bio-mechanically upgrading borrowing the 'best' features from other lifeforms and terraforming environments to suit you...maybe for so called grater purpose
humans are VERY dependent on the environment for their evolution

I don't know if that's the 'evolution' you're talking about, seems quite petty but MIGHT have fundamental alien-engineer narrative relevance with P2 and P3 on their way, allegedly.

MemberOvomorphJul-16-2012 8:55 PMwhen I talk about evolution, I don't mean JUST in a physical sense. I mean technologically advanced as well. Just as we are more technologically more advanced than a thousand years ago.

MemberOvomorphJan-21-2013 5:57 PM In reading through afew of the posts on this thread I see physical and tech referred to as development.
Both of these traits seem to be more humen that godlike.
By that I mean if the Engineers have been around for millions of years their development must have included some mental, intellectual and even perhaps spiritual(something beyond themselves).
Perhaps the muurals depicted briefly in our moviie might be an indication of something beyond the Physacal/Tech area of development but need to see more evidence.
I mean if the Engineer that is depicted in our movie is the reseult of millions of years of develoment/evolvement then we humans have a chance to take over the Universe.
