Hey everyone:) I'm new! I did make an introduction thread on the community discussions, so that'll answer why you haven't seen me before! Anyway, I've got a few theories, here's one. The Engineers created our race and many others as a test, and because we come from the Engineers, I wouldn't be surprised if they made thousands of other species. They laid out 'invitations' for us to find them a long time ago, they did this to see if we could find them, a test, because only then if we were able to create that kind of technology to go all that way, it's then we could become a threat to them. One thing that I think is fishy about the movie, and that kind've backs this up, is the hologram right? Showing the Engies running from 'something'. Why? why was it recorded, it seemed a bit silly, although to me it seemed like a massive hin! "Hey guys, you've gotten this far, here's a hint, you'll follow these guys into this room and meet similar dooms. After getting into that room (if I can remember correctly) David wanders into the room where the Engie is in cryo-sleep? That Engie was placed there to be woken up. Woken up, to meet the people that had come that far from Earth, destroy them, hop in his ship and wipe out Humans. That's one of my theories, I feel a bit stupid about this because I have missed out so much stuff that will contradict what I've said, but that's the fun in it :) this film is confusing, it's great fun to think out how it works... have fun ripping my theory to pieces! :)

I'm sorry, this relates to the 36 hour problem how? Joking! The only issue I see with your idea is that making it to LV223 doesn't necessarily equate mastery of their tech. However it could have been set up to reward the curious with a show, in which case the whole thing might be a set up, and could support the scenario you envision. This movie was configured to invite speculation, and I almost don't want my questions answered, there are so many great ideas right here! Rock on Chuck!

I think it's a pretty good theory and while there will be all kinds of things that people will say that may contradict your theory it's important that you never, ever feel stupid about posting. Trust me, I have ideas shot down every day and welcome it because when it happens I learn something I did not know about a film I love. The time to feel stupid is when you post something that contradicts something that you already know which I do constantly lol. Really though, don't ever feel stupid. If everyone refrained from posting ideas because they were worried about being wrong this forum would be a very boring place. Sorry I was kind of off topic. I just don't want anyone to be discouraged from posting. Especially new members.

I just don't know that we where ever supposed to show up with an android, who knew how to open everything. Did they Engineers know that when humans finally show up, they will have somebody with them who just wants to find them and ask for immortality? I believe this to be a big fat NO. I think we where supposed to show up, with just the intentions of meeting them. How much time do you think the characters would have spent traveling back and forth between Earth and LV-223, deciphering the languages written all over the caves, realizing they where warnings, realizing what was in those jars etc....WITHOUT an android, and WITHOUT Weyland at the helms? Obviously the whole entire story would have happened a different way right? But since we already know the outcome (*eventually being Alien) that what where we supposed to expect when we got reminded of the universe we where in when P R O M E T H E U S opened up on the screen in the same fashion as A L I E N, how could anybody NOT expect the movies to be tied together somehow is beyond me.

Chuck, if you have time, you should write your own review and post it in Prometheus Reviews (Liked). Everyone seems to take something different from this film, what did it show you?

"..I just don't know that we where ever supposed to show up with an android, who knew how to open everything..." Actually your comment got me to wondering..if this moon so important at anytime in nthe Engineers' life,,why wasn't there any kind of overt warning system....even a signal to their own planet would be sort of an early warning to get the living Engineers into action The Ampule room change in pressure system certainly seemed effective....but in the domes themselves..even a robotic system could tell when their airspace was being invaded...
