MemberOvomorphJul-24-2012 3:39 PMi know people want to know all the questions about them, but one...ONE...question had elluded me for a while is; Does the Mala'kak race have an empire, and what the Political motivation of it: 1) Is it Religious. 2) Is it imperialistic or militaristic. 3) or is it scientific. 4) or all of the above?. And like every empire, they must have a powerful advisory, for example...during the 3rd and 4th century C.E the Roman Empire and Sassinid Persian Empire were at each other throats. So who's the enemy of the Mala'kak, it could'nt be humans since they are irrevelant, but a race that is powerful to confront these Godlike immortal being that we call the Engineers, and how many enemies or advisories do they even have. Do they compete for dominance or something, i mean it has to either be of equel force or power. And no the Yautja (predators) dont count since they are not in the same universe. So whoever knows of this, i'll be very interisting to find out? and as for there empire, what is it even composed off? do the engineers control planets or solar systems or what. do they have colonies on them, and is earth part of their empire?

It depends largely on how you define "empire."
They clearly have or had an expansive civilization. It's not really possible to develop the technology that they have without that.
Re: Earth being or not being a part of their Empire... if you live in a home on a plot of ground and there are insects living in a hive in that ground between your home and the road (which you don't claim as yours) and you *believe* that you *own* that bit of ground, are those insects a part of your *empire*?

MemberOvomorphJul-24-2012 4:09 PM"Mala'kak" ?????? is that the name they gave the Engineers in the comics????
I believe some million years old civilization is way beyond any notion of "Empire". That would imply that they got stuck on theit History on what politics and expansionism is concerned, wich is highly improbable. Either an "empire" changes to something else or it colapses given time.

MemberOvomorphJul-24-2012 4:40 PMNothing lasts forever its very likely they had a massive 'empire' for want of a batter word and its probably collapsed but ridley hinted at a god being which is turns out to be not god so how that come into it all could be interesting...possibly the destroyer or was trapped by the elders somehow and they got the goo from it...who knows...probably no one not even ridley I bet :( ...

MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 1:45 PMHope you like reading ;) My theories are very similar to the dolphin xeno comment.
I believe this movie series will become much more complicated than this first foray into the universe.
The enemy of the Mala'kak ARE now the Engineers and Elder Engineers... aka the group of ancient hominids who are really the Atlanteans and Atlantean Elders spoken of in myth, as well as being the ancient aliens/Annunaki etc.… an earlier line of hominids connected to the Greek Gods/Elder gods who aren’t really gods…
Even the Elders aren’t the true gods and are more like us.
Which is exactly what Shaw, and in particular David will start to realize when they splash down on the “home” world to meet the Elders in “Paradise”.
They’ll find out what has become of their ancient Empire, this kingdom + the kingdom on ancient Earth. And how even empires will sometimes crumble, disintegrate, and revert back into separate kingdoms, or constituent elements after an Emperor dies.
With Weyland corp the opposite happens. The kingdom/body breaks down without the leadership and intelligence of the head, recombining with another into an Empire to survive the massive flood of information they can’t figure out alone.
A flood of another kind has affected the Engineers’ latest garden, and has also affected Earth in the past, as well as the alien genetics...
Allowing the genetics to grow out of the control of both empires when the fire was first weaponized by the Atlanteans/Engineers and then launched in war against the heavens as retaliation for the punishment of some of their kind back on Earth. Leaving many of those that didn’t get away chained to the Earth, with no choice but to continue to teach the early humans about where they came from and where the others were returning to.
Mala’kaks are what I refer to as the group who were possibly watching over the Elders in the round saucer. And the creators talked about when Shaw questions “who created the Engineers then?” Elder Engineers only direct the process, and are slightly less human looking. Slightly.
I strongly believe this movie series and the extended cut will attempt to bring to light the mythical connections and similarities/differences between the mythological groups. Which even archaeologists choose to ignore. A reversal on the normal ideas presented along with ancient aliens and the so-called archaeological evidence. Creating a more cross-cultural focus that delves even further into mythology, and religious concepts while attempting to connect them with Atlantis and the Alien as a bioweapon idea of the earth being repeatedly punished by god(s) every time humans (or atlanteans/engineers step out of line). The Atlanteans are simply emulating the beliefs of their creators and have become what they hate. They’ve become monsters now too.
Originally they were men who came from the ocean before or at the same time we did, and could also travel across the sky according to east-Indian and early Egyptian legends of similar sounding, and similarly named groups that are only somewhat separate from the elder deities, deities and God-kings (aka ancient astronauts). Additionally they were sometimes said to have contact with our early kings, or to have left influences on early civilizations like the Greeks (via the Minoans) and the Egyptians.
People used to ask how they would clean up the bioweapon if it were a bioweapon. I think the answer is reverse terraforming/ atmospheric altering to the point of causing ice ages and massive floods to wipe out everything and bury it in the ocean as per the myths of what happened to Atlantis and what happened when god saved some humans. Until a form of the fire was created by the remaining Atlanteans who survived which allowed it to survive floods on the worlds they began to recreate this new form on… leading to the aquatic characteristics of this hybrid breed, and making the genetics even more uncontrollable further down the line. As it had originally been in its pure form during the time they stole if from the Mala’kak group.
Just as the Weyland corp will become a new type of monster that will grow from a kingdom to an Empire. A hybrid. Two kingdoms/bodies combined into one to attempt to retain control, but becoming more monstrous again as it grows.
A paradise/garden of Eden has now been inevitably lost to the Weyland corp, to the engineers, and to time over millions of years after an ancient king died. After that the kingdom was destroyed from above/flooded due to its misuse of science, as punishment for the genetic manipulations and hybridization of the developing creatures done by the Atlantean god-king Poseidon. Zeus' brother. A half-titan and a darker Prometheus like character.
The kingdom returned to the ocean it came from, until inevitably humans became the new kings of the Earth.
The ones who escaped the plague/flood/purge by retreating back into the universe are mad at us because the true gods punished us less severely and allowed us to live on Earth even after we were kicked out of the garden, and placed back into a state of ignorance about our true history. At a time when they tried to tell us the truth about the true creators, and left us clues to where they were going, but did not fill us in on their later plan to make war with them as they slithered out of the garden and became a much more dangerous, venomous serpent.

MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 2:20 PMThis sets up the whole love then hate relationship between us and them.
They wanted to help us rebel against the true gods, but that changed after their paradise was lost and we got to live in the Garden for a time. While they were forced off earth. Our punishment for going against the gods was also less severe as the Mala'kak group only made things slightly harder for us, saved us from the flood and allowed us to still live on the Earth.. So they now harbor resentment towards their younger brothers. Especially now that they see we are becoming militaristic like them and not being punished by the true gods.
Because they are so similar to us, and preceded us as Shaw says, this leads to the question of who created the Elders? They're also very similar, but not quite the same as even the different types of Engineers we've seen. I'm thinking same genus same species different conditions/characteristics, but not enough to produce a separate species unless it's been a very long time and a lot of isolation.
We know the Elders direct the process. The Engineers that kept popping up on earth are our misguided brothers, who periodically try to guide/misguide us into following in their footsteps of trying to destroy their rulers and their creators.
While some had broken off to try to give humanity freedom before being punished, Others were only hardened further by the punishment the other side caused after their Atlantean kingdom had been destroyed. The Elder Gods tried to keep treating them like angels/androids/servants. Forbidding them from living amongst the humans any longer. Now they only see us as another weapon in their ancient war, and want the Earth back.
Before their kingdoms inevitably died out and we came to be the rulers of the Earth with a little assistance from the good ones who never left to wage war against the Titans in the Titanomachy.
The groups we perceive to possibly be the Atlanteans in cross-cultural mythology are actually described as very tall, pale and humanoid. Not mermaids. The actual legends claim they created mermaids and other hybrid serpent and fish monsters due to their genetic and scientific knowledge and proximity to the Gods/Elder gods. With Poseidon being a God-king half-Titan (or Elder God/Engineer) himself. In the myths Poseidon creates the Atlantean humans before any other humans are created by Prometheus.
We were simply a recreation of them after one of their seeds created us at the same time. They simultaneously established their early kingdom/colony on the Earth, but it rebelled against the true nature of their Empire beyond Earth, and the forces above them.
Which only made the Engineers even more militaristic over time. Making the original message to where the other Atlanteans left after the flood/punishment take on a different meaning altogether. One that the ones who stayed close to the Earth, still promoting this message, couldn't have known had changed.

MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 2:39 PMI also strongly believe the sequel, Paradise, will heavily deal with the concept of a paradise on ancient Earth being lost in general, lost on other planets, and to another faction. The Garden of Eden/Paradise/Atlantis/Flood themes all tying into the myth-like Spain shoot… also tying into the alien genetics, what happened to the Engineers and who their adversaries are. After the king dies the kingdom is inevitably changed, which applies to Weyland corp and their new king as well as other kingdoms.
They're emulating their gods now by trying to punish and destroy worlds that grow out of line, and still haven’t learned their own lessons about misuse of technology they’ve stolen/been given. Engaged in a war against the true creators of both us and them, and now wishing to use us as fodder for the bioweapon, adding more danger to Shaw's drive to keep asking who this group of true creators would be.
The Engineers wanted to kill their creators for imposing their rule on them just as David did, and just as David they secretly wish to be at the top of the hierarchy. And cannot let us pass them, and would rather have used us as a bioweapon already for their activities in that system 2000 years ago. They also want to kill their false creators, the Elders, but I believe that was mostly achieved in the past and that most of the Elders are dead too.
They stem from a technologically superior paradise using strange forms of technology like crystals and harmonics in some accounts of the atlantean myths... as well as myths about them creating hybrids, mermaids and monsters which were seen as an insult to the Elder Gods and other Greek Gods, their creators and contemporaries.
Hinted as a reason for the sinking of Atlantis. Either an opposing force who punished them for taking their science too far, or for making the first move against the gods by weaponizing the fire they'd been given. A fire (the technology in general in this case) we were denied after their Paradise was lost because of the weapon they enhanced.

Mala'kak
MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 2:54 PMAnother form of the myth is the Atlanteans sunk their paradise themselves by taking their science too far in pursuit of their weapons and genetic mastery. Sort of like they had an outbreak or an accident in this version, but are almost always said to be warring or preparing for war with another faction
like Lemurians, Greek gods and Titans at one point in the Greek stuff etc.

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2012 10:56 AMIf the engineers do have an empire, it is probably ruled by an Ensi (which is a sumerian, akkadian, and elamite ruler).

Mala'kak I pulled a few words from your post. My problem I sort of understand their need to leave. What we learn from this movie is that they travelled over 2 light years away to set up shop and presumably start a new life.
My problem is that they would harbor such a hatred that it would extend not only light years away but also many centuries in Earth time?
If the Engineers are seeming an advanced race why would be concerned with the pettiness of hatred/revenge when they have a sort of mastery of the Universe and could
I guess i see the explanation you give as grounded in our human terms..but don't see how beings would even be concerned about tht trivial when dealing in such a wider frame of mind:The Univese.
I know this an older posing on this site. Your thoughts are still generating ideas that movie fans can discuss and cuss.
When you have both you know you are doing a goiod thing.
