MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 4:33 PMI found these pics awhile back.When Alien was released in 1979,they flew a ton of sets and miniatures to Las Angeles.Rumor is they had the "Mother" control room and hypersleep chamber in the lobby of the theatre for the premiere.
They also had Giger's Derelict,Nostromo and parts of the Refinery.Here's some photos of the miniatures as they were prepared for shipping.
Here's some pics of The Holy Grail of Alien filming miniatures(rolling thunder sound).All Ye who see-ith these pics may Ye have a stronger heart for viewing them,and pay less taxes(clap of thunder)...Ok,you'll still have to pay your taxes but here's the photos anyway :)
This first one gives you an idea of how big the Derelict ship was..

This was taken in the studios model shop.Its refered to by miniature enthusiasts as "The Narcisus Garage".

MemberOvomorphJul-25-2012 7:48 PMThe model work on this film was so tremendous.....real Artisanship.
I read the Nostromo needed a forklift to truck it...
@David 1
By the way, I read the Nostromo was left out to rot under tarps in some yard for 20 years but some Saintly obsessives have been spending the 5 years restoring it.
