MemberOvomorphAug-08-2012 9:05 AMDoes anyone else think it;s a possibility that Shaw is Mrs Yutani? The quiet eye trailer sorta led me in that direction. Any insight would be greatly appreciated..

MemberOvomorphAug-08-2012 9:16 AMI think it's not possible because AVP:R is set in 2004 (AVP was set in 2004 and AVP:R starts off right after it) and the Quiet eye video has to be set between 2089 and 2091. And Shaw in the quiet eye video seems more or less as old as Mrs Yutani in the end of AVP:R.
But nice observation

MemberOvomorphAug-08-2012 3:09 PM+1 David. AVP has no place in any of this. AVP was a lame attempt to squeeze money out of ALIEN fans. Using anything from AVP to explain ALIEN's timeline is like using facts from quantum physics to explain pollution.

How many times has this been asked: Alright, I will be nice CANON means what is considered 'relevant passage pf events' in a given frnachise and it includes mainly the first idea (example being Alien film and any and all subsequent procee3ding sequels and prequels, midquels if the events are taking place concurrently and simutanoeoulsly to that of an established theme (case in example: you have 300 and now there will be 300: Battle of Artimisia, an event that charts the events of a famous sea battle which held off Xerxes invading fleet to the city of Athens if I remeber that part of it correctly but it takes place roughly six months before as I believe and during the events of the 300 Spartans and their last stand as for three days they held the narrow pass at the Hot Gates during battle of Thermopalye. Here as there there are overwhelming numbers of ships that a man called Thermisticles has to battle against and he has to fight them as Leonidas does with the million-strong ground forces of Xerxes army. The two Greeks are in communication with one another and there simply was not enough screen time or screen relevance at the time to tell the strory of Thermisticles so they have saved that for a 'sequel' / 'midquel' as is the tcase for 300: The Battleo of Artimisa. A bit long-winded perhaps, o.k. but canon is such subjects as Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection franchise and now Prometheus is considered canon but at the same time and independant franchise and thus 'Canon' for any and all future Prometheus films sequels or prequels that would follow. Its just that in Prometheus' case it was 'spawned' so to speak vis Alien franchise DNA (no I was not trying to be smart either you all! lol!) and as a result should it continue-on into the future it shal evolve its own sense of 'personality' as the Alien films did at leat for me from one to three. Alien: Ressurection had so much potential with Ripleys new-found almost bionic woman-like abilities that it fell short of its tue potential. It seemed almost forced in some ways. She could have done more as Van Damme did in Universal Soldier or the T-800 and Sarah Connor smashing the crap out of near-enough everything in Terminator 2: Jugement Day. Canon fleshes out a franchise and is considered the 'bible' for its inception. Again, see Alien. Hope this has been helpful, it was kind of fun writing it! :-)

MemberOvomorphAug-09-2012 12:28 PMPrometheus is way crappy than AVP. Call me troll if you wish, I don't care. Temple in AVP has much darker feel and gives us the ancient feel, how about prometheus? nothing. Prologue in the middle of the movie gives better insight to AVP concept compared to prologue at the start of prometheus.
Just because ridley said AVP was bad and was made for money doesn't mean it was the case. Dark horse's original comics was very creative and is still better than prometheus story. It turned out to be prometheus was made for profit pop corn movie which ridley pointed out to AVP movies. Crappy at it's best. I mean they did nothing new compared to old alien, oh wait, david pushed buttons all the time, I give you that as additional mysterious plot.

MemberOvomorphAug-09-2012 1:05 PMYeah sure. I never said that it was canon. I am just comparing the movie feel. Prometheus turned out very crappy for me.

MemberOvomorphAug-09-2012 1:10 PMSky, I wish this was not so. I never saw either AVPs but I did see Predator. Wasn't Sylvester Stallone in it? There can't be no Sly Stallone in my canon! He stuff it all up, canon don't fire. No good.

MemberOvomorphAug-10-2012 9:29 AMEither way or THe Company Weyland-Yutani... Yutani was mentioned in alien, aliens, alien 3 so forth even if they're not connected or if there isnt a ms Yutani they still exsist within each other.... Yutani was involved with Bio weapons terraforming etc just like Weyland corp/industries.. The comics contained a few different yutani characters.. At the end of the day we are just people who obsess over a film, it's lore or what ever may... I personaly believe they're connected cuz why have a movie trailer with Yutani if it has nothing to do with ur movie..kinda stupid when you look at it that way.. and when i say mentioned I just mean it appear's on the patche's hadley's hope, the prison etc And in predator 2 there is a xeno skull and possibly a SJ skull in the trophey case soooooooooo... If they have nothing to do with one another i think some copyright lawsuits might of been filed Oh F ing well it's a movie End of story........

MemberOvomorphAug-10-2012 10:26 AMIn any case, I think she was "Ms" Yutani.

MemberOvomorphAug-15-2012 9:48 AMI just watched it again and the question now is if Yutani never fit the timeline why WHY WHY is it mentioned in a viral video for prometheus everyone claims that a ms yutani has no place in the alien franchise I think it'll come full circle in the sequel's to come perhaps the merging of the companies....Hhmmm possibly the re-exploration of Lv 223 a yutani vessel they're the competition to Weyland Right.. everyone says i thiought to much into this I prolly did but I still cant wait to find out In The end...

AdminPraetorianSep-07-2012 2:41 PM@Major Noob; The first AVP wasn't bad actually. The second was terrible, embarassing...

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 2:28 AMI think it's hilarious how much time people have spent in the Prometheus forums complaining about how much they hate Prometheus. I wish I had that much time on my hands. I wonder how many posts they make in forums for movies they love (if such perfection even exists in their universe).
Anyway... I digest.
I reserve any scathing judgements until I see what RS has in store for Act II. He hints in Prom. commentary that it will all become clear (Yutani-Weyland-Prometheus/Shaw/David connection). He has earned the benefit of the doubt in my book.
