MemberOvomorphAug-12-2012 12:45 PMthis poped in to my head the otherday.what if the sj on lv426 is an Elder they say they are bigger than the other sjs. soooo what if some elders are good and some bad and him being a good 1 knew what the eggs are and took them as far away as he can.i would be happy if this was the answer to how he got there.plus i see the aliens as a virus that spread and must do anything to stay alive hence the queen to spead the virus (eggs) that how i have always seen aliens as that a virus.

MemberOvomorphAug-12-2012 12:48 PMyou know, it's like you read my mind - I was just then about to reply on an.oth.er thread that maybe the LV-426er was BIGGER i.e. the pilots got smaller since taking on the Giger-skin...
In my mind, the Engineers on primeavel Earth (in the prologue) were like 5 meters tall ...

MemberOvomorphAug-12-2012 1:14 PMSpace Jockey LV-426 is 'fossilised', however this 'could have happened' over 35 years.
However, two thousand year old Engineer Pilot head 'isn't fossilised' so go figure.
Basically, employing Lindelof was a really bad idea, methinks.

MemberDeaconAug-12-2012 1:19 PMAgain there are no reference points for the Engineer Race.
We have the concept work and these show them to be like between 9 to 12ft tall (varies from concept artwork to artwork) The Alien Space Jockey was said to be 15ft tall but i actually worked him out to be 12ft but a every bulky and big 12ft (more bigger head than the one the crew in Prometheus picked up).
I can answer the Elder Engineer question only as far as the Sacrificial Engineer as the Elders appear to be smaller and more frail and not hug hulking menaces.
Again this only shows that the Sacrificial Engineer was taller and larger than the Elders and we do not know if the Elders are taller than the last Engineer and thus making the Sacrificial Engineer larger than the last one.
The Space Jockey suits hanging up are about 10ft tall, at least 9ft... however the Ghost Engineer who ran through David is only about 8ft tall and the Engineer who fought with Shaw about 7.5ft or just under.
I think these are maybe in hindsight errors due to filming and Ridley never expected us to scrutinize the size and work it out.
It appears from what a number of production staff have said that the Engineer race do on average stand 9-10ft tall.
Now where Mankind can range from 5ft-6.5ft average with some on rare occasions smaller 4-5ft and taller 7-8ft maybe the Engineer race also vary in size.
So while just a speculation maybe the Race is supposed to vary between 8-12ft tall.

Yes there are some inconsistencies for sure.
Apparently the room the head fell in had a atmosphere that effected the way it would not decompose.
And yes we have a lot of height inconsistencies and i think in Hindsight they should have done what they did with Lord of the Rings to make the Hobbit actors appear to only be about 3ft to 4 tall when they all mainly stood about 5.5 feet tall. They could have then made the Engineer appear 9-10ft tall. which is what i think the aim was.

Engineering
MemberOvomorphAug-12-2012 3:09 PMVery good thought. However, like I said before, I feel the differences between the SJ and the engineers in Prometheus are simply due to changes in design.
Even though I think it was a design changes, a while back I came up with the reasoning that the differences were due to the ship being different. The ship in Alien doesn't have the stasis chambers and all that. Plus, it seems the cocpit in the derelict did not rise up from below. As we know the egg chamber was below the cockpit in the derelict. It didn't look like there was any mechanisms above the egg chamber that would lift the cockpit. It didn't seem like there was any place for the cockpit underneath.
But, as I said, I just think they were simply design changes.

MemberOvomorphAug-12-2012 4:58 PMHmm they looked a bit smaller when they made prometheus - thank god they decided on a redesign:
Pretty sure the old SJ and engineers are supposed to be the same - very annoyingly...
