MemberOvomorphAug-18-2012 8:56 PMHello everyone, im new here and i love this forums. I was watching Alien (again) and i notice that Ash has a photo of a kitten in his desk at the cockpit of Nostromo.
I know that the company replace the medical officer of the ship with Ash for a secret reason, so probably he need to have false memory implants to pass as a human.
But the idea of a kitten photo reminds me the false memory implants of Rachael, one of the Replicants of Blade Runner that didn't know she is a Replicant.
Did Ash know he is a syntethic human with a secret agenda for the company or he is a "replicant" like Rachael with implanted false memories and strong motivations programed by the company to complete the mission, and believe to be a human doing their duty?

Keep in mind though, that Blade Runner and Alien are not connected.

MemberOvomorphAug-18-2012 9:14 PMIts at the beginning, when they marking the path to land LV-426, Ash is talking and they cut the scene to show his monitor, the photo is at the right side of the monitor.
Probably it's Jones as you mention, and they cut from Ash to Ripley's desk.
I also know that Alien and Blade Runner are different stories in different universes, but not in Riddley Scott mind ;)

MemberOvomorphAug-18-2012 9:18 PMA calendar? Really? Damn. Anyway, im still impressed by the ammount of detail they put in that movie. The Nostromo is one of the best sets in cinema history ever.

AdminPraetorianAug-19-2012 1:33 AMI am pretty sure it is in Ripley's console, not Ash's, because you can even see a bit of her profile and hair. I screenshotted the scene, I think the cat is Jonsey because when you see the picture of the cat, Ripley says the world "Turbulance" and she is looking at a monitor. I left how many minutes in the movie the scene is in the screenshot so you guys can all have a look.

MemberOvomorphAug-22-2012 12:08 PMBut what about the question if Ash knows he is a droid/robot/synthetic person or not? There is any part of the movie that let this clear? or did we need to apply the guessing logic based on his behavior along the movie?
