Does Anybody Here Actually Like Alien 3 and / or 4 ?

I liked 3 especially the extended cut. Mood, directing, and acting are all great. Alien's go-motion was a little crappy. (it wasn't cg, although everyone says that.) Considering all the turmoil during production, it could have been a lot worse. Ripley's end, as sad as it made me, was also well done. She was ready for the end. Ressurection was a mess start to finish. I love Joss Whedon and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, they just should never have been allowed to make an Alien film. Their styles don't go with the universe, in my opinion. :)

Yep. I quite like Alien 3, it's an underrated sequel i think. I used to hate it because i thought the alien was garbage, i failed to see all the good things in the Film because of the alien. Alien Reserrection is complete rubbish from start to finish! Everthing about it is poor, the story, the acting, the aliens and the shody attempt at dark humour makes it really cheesy and forget about the AvP trash! Complete guff!

Yeah, Resserection's one liners were so bad, and not in line with the other 3.

I liked Ripley's Death. was well done as Gen said [pretty well done... as in, down into the furnace] Alien 4 was ok till that abortion of a hybrid made it's appearence. 2 best parts of it to me were when Ripley catches the ball and when she is carried by a xeno. the rest was meh.

Agreed. The original comics were great. Machiko was an awesome protagonist. Movies were one of my greatest let downs in life.

Yes, I like all the Alien movies. Some are better than others but still enjoyable.

Of these 2 I only liked resurrection . What I liked about how a4 was how it was almost as if Ripley (even if it was clone) somehow got payback for all the suffering the aliens caused her as she genetically inherited traits from the xenos like having the ability to sense danger in advance- she's stronger - faster - she still has ripleys memories. A TV series with clone Ripley infiltrating wallmart to gain access to files from the past of WY to uncover all the horrible experiments they have done and ultimately finding out how the sj was discovered and finally leading her to the masters of the universe and then she becomes one of them - the first female engineer. Soppy I know

bacon and eggs? Lol I agree that all of the Alien movies are enjoyable, but not in exactly the same way. I am probably in the minority, but i actually think that Aliens is extremely overrated. The stupid marines.. ugh. Alien 3 is underrated and as much as A4 missed the mark, it still has some good ideas and is very entertaining. Obviously the original is the best, and Prometheus is my new favorite. :)

I enjoy watching all the Alien series. Each has their place and tell a different type of story.

Thank god someone else loves Prometheus, it's weird feeling like an outsider for liking Prometheus, on the Prometheus site.

alien 3 (restored workprint cut) is an excellent film. I enjoy everything about it (narrative, aesthetic sensibilities, script, acting, visual execution etc.). However, alien "insurrection" was a complete abomination (i try my best to pretend that it doesnt exist).

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone here. 3 is quite good (director's cut), and 4 just sucks. Out of the first three I would definitely say 3 is my least favorite by far though. 4 is the only one that sucks so much I don't consider it part of the universe. It's fun to watch every few years with some friends to make fun of it though, and at least the xenomorphs look amazing! I am here because of friends I made along the way. I love speculation, humor and shared stuff on aliens franchise on this site. So keeps me sticky here. I know should have moved onto other sites but it's difficult. Movie sucks for my tastes. Tried 2nd and 3rd viewing and open mind stuff, didn't help. It's worst even for pop corn movie category, harsh I know but thats what it is, for me atleast. I would rate it low even compared to AVP-R and Aliens 3 and 4.

I do like more alien and aliens than 3 and 4, but I also do like them.

Alien 3 directors cut I like. Alien 4, If I had a bowl of alphabet soup, I reckon I could s**t a better script. As for Prometheus, I think it’s a bit like falling into a barrel of tits and coming out sucking my thumb. What I came out with was not what I expected, but I’m not complaining about the experience.

I've given my opinion on the Alien movies time and time again. And i'll say it once more. Alien was a great introduction. So i can't penalize it. Yes, it was pretty much a Sci-Fi monster movie. Who's content consisted of an alien terrorizing the crew of a space ship. Nothing more... But you have to ask yourself. What storyline foundations have the Alien movies laid down, in the end? The answer: Absolutely NONE. While the movies are so iconic, the art and design aspects being movie innovations - the Alien movies are completely pointless. Aliens tried, at least. Ripley went back to LV-426 with the goal of wiping out all Xenomorph life. Alien 3; Waste of your time. One...freakin' Xenomorph running around a prison. Killin' folks. DEEP! Alien: Resurrection: Bunch of Xenormorphs run rampant on a ship after escaping. With the thread of spreading if the ship reaches Earth intact. DEEP! The only thing we've gotten out of the entire Alien franchise in the end directly; Ripley's character development. Which was quite awesome. But it's unfortunate that we won't see Ripley using her new powers to the best of her abilities, maybe ... for a greater cause. And most importantly, above all else. We got Prometheus from the Alien franchise. Which needs to FURTHER itself from the Alien franchise as much as possible. The ONLY tie-in are the Xenomorphs, folks. That's it. There's NOTHING else Prometheus relates with Alien. Alien = No depth. At all.. Prometheus = Yes... a gigantic disappointment, that i still think about almost every day (usually whilst on the toilet) But i STILL love the content. And most of all... i'm still an Engineer nut-swinger. Prometheus is something much bigger, and on a more grand scale. It's telling a story with depth, and meaning. And, to be honest, is packed with much more content. Than the Alien franchise. It just hasn't reached it's full potential yet, and hasn't been fully realized. We have yet to see the Prometheus universe open up to it's optimal level. Let's just hope Prometheus looks like a LIIIIITTLE introduction, once the sequel comes out :D.

Who cares canon or not? AVP 1 was way better than prometheus crap. It hardly makes difference if it's canon or not, especially for 90 percent of people who pay for box office money, don't even care if it's canon or not :D Prometheus with "touching every button" and " crappy acting" and "pace", AVP beats prometheus universe anytime. :p Besides, without any other threatening species, prometheus universe is crap. It needs better class of dominating vilians or darkness that attracts people. Otherwise, prometheus universe is nothing but story about species that made humans and aliens that keeps making others pregnant and while exploring this innocent crew members getting killed. I do accept but the point is enjoyment. Admit it. AVP(Part 1) was better than "I am touching every button" and "They want us to come and find them" crap. :D
