MemberOvomorphOct-04-2012 2:22 PMthis doesn't relate DIRECTLY to Prometheus but it is included in the pantheon...
what pantheon is that?
the recent Hollywood pantheon of GIANTS WHO MADE US or came to invade, or you know feature strongly in the narrative.
I'll name a few, Prometheus, Avatar, Battlefield Earth, Iron Giant.... that last one was mere levity... but you realise what I'm trying to ask, right?
Why are Hollywood CONSTANTLY raking up the Zacharia Sitchin's ten foot tall rulers of mankind and originators of Atlantis, the Annunaki?

MemberOvomorphOct-04-2012 4:36 PMAs far as I am concern I'm glad they did not make the Prometheus Engineer as tall as the original Space Jockey in Alien... If I recall, listening to RS commentary in Alien, the SJ was to be approx. 26-29 feet tall.... I can't imagine an Engineer that tall unless it is film via CGI, much like in Avatar.... But it would be nice to see the Engineers as tall as 10-12 feet w/o CGI influence. Did they not have Ian Whyte stand on a box or something when they shot the scene w/Weyland and David talking w/him?
Also I would like to see a sci-fi movie about the Annunaki and the making of man using Sitchin's theory, but not a class b movie, or cheesy movie about it..... perhaps a movie entirely about the Ancient Alien theory alltogether..... despite Prometheus has the some undertones of Ancient Alien theory in it, but then not really imo, just RS vision in the Alien Universe or Alien DNA sotospeak
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

MemberDeaconOct-04-2012 4:16 PMWell the Engineer in that image appears to be about 9.5ft tall maybe near 10ft depending on the size of the Humans....
A lot of the concept work they work out to about 9ft tall, and the idea was for them to be 9-10ft tall.
They could have and should have and lets hope they do in Paradise gone for the same trickery they used to make the Hobbits in LOTR and Hobbit appear smaller to make the Engineer larger.
They could have create the illusion that Ian Whyte was 9ft and not the 7.5ft as he appeared in the movie.... some scenes he appeared to be 8ft but then in others you could clearly see he was about 7.5ft tops.

Originally they were to be large, But then the CGI is the only way and I think that Ridley thought it would look something false. Anyways I don't rule out budget problems.

MemberOvomorphOct-05-2012 2:09 AMShambs,
I LOVE that illustration you used - and while it 'could be argued' that (because of the low camera angle) that engineer is ONLY 2.5m tall, I wish they'd have made them 3.5m or 4 m tall - something truly 'statuesque' - but they they wouldn't have fit inside their Space Jockey chair-suit-thing whatever its function was in a totally air-controlled environment.
But this detracts (slightly) from the real question of the thread, "What is Hollywood doing spoon-feeding us Zacharia (Nibiru) Sitchin propaganda on a daily basis?"
Oh, add Battleships to the 'giant invader' refs.

MemberOvomorphOct-05-2012 2:21 AMin Lord of the Rings, they made Gandalf appear SUPER-LARGE by use of clever rigs and z-depth separation i.e. no C.G.I. needed:

MemberOvomorphOct-07-2012 3:20 AMif you think about it, I suspect Ridley Scott wanted the Engineers to be 4.5m tall.
Why?

Well, this is the height of Michelangelo's David statue (above, minus plinth).
This height for the Engineers would have been ABSOLUTELY SUPERB, heroically statuesque, imho -- this as an excellent counterfoil to the similarly-scaled Ganesha-like Space Jockeys the Engineers stole (back engineered) their flight tech from.

MemberOvomorphOct-09-2012 3:42 AMthe marble statue of David by Michelangelo is about 17 feet tall and weights 6 tons. You can be sure this was done only of artistic ( and architectual ) reasons.

Sitchin is crap ( and btw scientifically proven wrong). If Hollywood is making films of that that is even more crap.
cheers

Yes he did say 26ft Space Jockey but then he also at latter date said it was 15ft.
Thats just kind of errors Ridley makes, i dont know if he really grasped the basics of Scale, i mean the Engineers in Prometheus are drafted as being 10ft, which you can clearly see they are not.
And in Alien 26ft Jockey lol.... have you ever seen anything thats 26ft tall?
A Giraffe is a average of about 22ft tall.
A T-Rex is about 16ft tall.
The prop for the Space Jockey was about 15ft long, now with the illusion of the child actors this would still only make it seem 20ft, not 26ft.
