MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 7:35 PMThe movie was awesome as it stirred some real world and sci-fi related questions.
The first question deals with Dr. Shaw. Even though she could not become pregnant through normal methods of procreation but became impregnated with an Engineered fetus her reproductive system is still able to function.
Could this mean that in the real world females and males who are considered sterile are not in fact really sterile but are only able to reproduce with another lifeform. A lifeform not from this planet. Perhaps both genders were part of a seeding attempt by an alien lifeform that engineered them many millions of years ago and then spread them throughout the galaxy.
Although they are human by all accounts they are alien to Earth because they cannot procreate with other humans. Perhaps their function on Earth is too be a bridge between other species of humans, that when discovered in the galaxy, would be able to create life with them to build a bridge of understanding and mutuality.
Basically somewhere out there in space there is planet with such human life on, maybe like us, maybe not that would have the extra DNA that when sterile females and males of Earth engage in intercourse with them and exchange DNA the sterile humans reproductive systems are turned on to create the new lifeform.
Will the alien life form born of Dr.Shaw's DNA track her down across the galaxy as a lost child would in a mall?
The next question is Sci-Fi related. Since the alien is a Xenomorph and takes the form of its host, Prometheus, AVP, would it be possible for the Xenomorph to create a new life form that is part biological and part machine, or basically a Borg to create a new species.
Could such a species that evolves be similar to the aliens from Battle For Los Angelos?

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 8:38 PMIn response to your last question I do not believe the xeno dna could absorb anything without a genetic code. It could absorb engineered or artificial dna as you could say in this dimension we are artificial. But unless they are smart enough to create technology to merge themselves with then I don't ever see them becoming Borg like. Although they share some Borg qualities.

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 8:48 PMI wonder though that after dna continually passes through each generation of xeno, it can choose particular traites of each species it has absorbed to its advantage. A constant evolutionary process that can potentially lead to the perfect specie, as the rate it evolves at is astonishing.

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 9:15 PMIn the case of the LV 426 Xeno I think that it would incorporate the species DNA into its spawn.
We know that Dr. Holloway was the first to be infected per the scene after he has intercourse with Dr. Shaw when he sees the tiny worm come out of his eye and then goes back in.
So somewhere along the line Dr. Holloway became infected with the LZ 426 xeno DNA that probably coded his DNA along with Dr. Shaws DNA to create their offspring that Dr. Shaw tried to abort.
The fetus Dr. Holloway removed from her body was merely a DNA processing factory that grew to the size that it did to protect the new xeno growing inside of it.
Once developed that Xeno Carrier infected the Engineer with the new Xeno lifeform that continued to develop inside of its Engineer host.
The new Xeno lifeform that emerged from the Engineer now has two distinct gender sets of DNA, female and male from Dr. Holloway and Dr. Shaw along with the DNA reproductive traits of the Engineer.
The LZ 426 Xeno also has the species traits of two uniquely different but same DNA traits which means that it can think like an Engineer, human female or male whenever it chooses to.
The proof that the Xeno does take on the DNA traits of its host can be seen in AVP when the infected warrior has a chest buster emerge from his chest that had the resemblence of a Predator Warrior.
To bad for the Predator ship and its crew.

MemberOvomorphOct-11-2012 7:55 AMConsidering the xeno is more like a virus it doesn't matter if females can reproduce. Men don't have a womb to incubate a growing fetus either and it doesn't matter for the same reason. Cuddles would have ended up chest busting out of Shaw like any other xeno, probably.

MemberOvomorphOct-11-2012 4:54 PMI wonder what Deacon will be doing on that planet all alone? I believe it is either both sexes or no sex at all, perhaps the xeno will alter itself to become a queen when it is born without a colony. Or perhaps this is an entire different breed of xeno that is not part of nest like system.

What you are saying is true. Men do not have wombs but their DNA when mixed with an offworld species of a humanoid female that is also infertile until she comes in contact with a human male from Earth that is otherwise infertile could create new life and a new species.
Creation is a funny thing....those who can produce without problems view those who cannot as being weak....foreign and not of this Earth....but when such infertile humans procreate with a similar person from a different planet does such life not create a bridge between the species of humans as well as building a road into the uknowns of space?

Do you think that the Trilobite is some type of alien virus that infects the human body twisting the perversions in the persons mind into the reality of their being and form and then creates the labyrinth between time and space called Hell?

MemberOvomorphOct-13-2012 8:20 PMDoes no-one see the parallel between Shaw's childbirth and the virgin birth of Jesus?
We saw the mural showing a crucified xenomorph that looked very much like the deacon that came out of the engineer. This may lead to a temporal paradox in which reality keeps repeating itself in cycles...begging the question whether time travel has anything to do with it....ok totally digressing now...but the similarities are spot on.

MemberOvomorphNov-16-2012 1:20 PMThat is a very interesting question davuda.
At the end of the movie the year is 2094. There was also mention about the Engineers body being carbon dated to around 2000 years old give or take. Give or take in carbon dating could be plus or minus 100 years either way.
2100 years would have put the Engineer involvment with humanity 100 years after Jesus' crucifixion or 100 years earlier.
I would have to say 100 years prior to his crucifixion. Based upon numerous accounts Jesus' conception was deemed as "immaculate" meaning that intercourse did not take place and was viewed by most as being "the spirit of god" that gotten Mary pregnant. The only way that Mary could have gottenb pregnant would have been through an oral insertion similar to what we have seen from the xeno's on LV-426. But since Jesus was not a xeno and born in this manner could suggest that an engineer type race found Earth in a state of decay and turmoil and decided to create a new race that would spaceward instead of thinking about Earthbound notions.
Jesus was not crucified because he tried to bring about change or that he said that he was the King of the Jews. Jesus was crucified because he was not conceived in the traditional manner and that his birth was a virgin birth. A birth not associated with the traditional method of human reproduction.
This is the main reason why there is so much dispute about aliens or illegal immgrants even though they believe in Jesus. Such humans are often hated because of the history associated with Jesus birth that was alien to humanity and not of Earth...but something different that would make humans question the beliefs that they had been taught for thousands of years.
History also shows that after Jesus' death up and to 2012 that humanity has enjoyed a rapid and immense growth in knowledge and technology that was not present before Jesus' time. Take a look at history up and too 0 year. Advancements were extremely slow and progress was viewed in thousand year increments.

MemberOvomorphNov-20-2012 1:20 PMThe Prometheus crew were going for reason to LV-223 and there damn well better be a result of this adventure. Shaw's childbirth scenes may be a notf to Christianity beliefs,,but if other viewers might interperet it in their own culture and heritage.
If there was going to a birth of supreme being why would there be a birth at all?
Perhaps it explains situations to a lessor mind.
I would take it for what it is a meeting of alien and human entities trying to sort out who or what is going to survive.
Everthing else is our mind trying to fill in the blanks and tie up the loose threads.
THat is what Humans do but not Gods..

MemberOvomorphDec-06-2012 12:40 PM".MEDPOD 720i
This year, Weyland Industries introduced the FDA-approved MedPod 720i - our most advanced unit to date - which can diagnose, treat and perform a range of surgical procedures with ultra-fine laser incisions guided by 3D anatomical scanning. Procedures include everything from diagnosis and treatment of infection through concentrated antibiotic injections, basic wound repair, appendectomy, laparoscopic ablation and Cesarean section. At present, a dozen units have been manufactured and deployed in the field by Weyland Industries for practical testing.."
Why was so difficult for Shaw to enter the Medpod? THe info above doesn't mention sex so why did Weyland modify the medpod for males only?
He has a reason for everything else done on this mission.

MemberOvomorphDec-08-2012 3:23 PMThe medpod operation was a virtual reality / memory implant to recreate the trauma the real Shaw underwent during the first failed mission.

MemberOvomorphDec-08-2012 11:56 PMI like the thinking about the Medpod being virtual reality/memory implant device.
It is not clear to me your reference to the first failed mission.
