prometheus 2 practical/CGI

I still think parts of Prometheus 2 have already been filmed and are being saved. So the filming time and production for Prometheus 2 might not take as long at all.

Ridley does not have time to spare if he wants to do a Sequel. I am going to assume Paradise will be released no later than 2015

Don't forget Ridley is also making the Blade Runner sequel, so it may take awhile before Prometheus 2 is released.

Unless Ridley asked an Engineer for more life and was granted in order for him to produce the next two movies... ......

I think Paradise with be out by 2015 or people will wind up loosing interest in it. Even with Bladerunner 2 coming out.

how did the OP arrive at 10 years? if prometheus 2 isnt made within 5 years, i dont think its going to get made. Fox said they are targeting 2014/2015. i think 2015 is a likely release date for the sequel. As far as practical vs. CGI....i completely disagree with the OP regarding CGI being potentially better than practical. I dont think CGI will ever eclipse practical. even now, CGI is appreciably inferior to practical fx. The future of beautiful filmmaking is augmenting properly executed practical FX with nicely rendered CGI. Prometheus looked so great because it did exactly that...reliance on practical fx with deft CGI augmentation.

Totally agree with Joeyjoe here. RS always tried to rely on practical over CGI and said that CGI is more expensive especially when a director shoots a scene over a big green screen with the idea of just filling it in later with CG generated background. Knowing what you want the scene to look like saves a lot of money and he considers himself a businessman who likes to stay within budget. Going over budget suggests that the director has not efficiently communicated with the viewer. These are paraphrased interview statements by RS.

IMHO - I have no idea what to expect of Paradise/Prometheus 2, other than nothing I could have dreamed! I am looking forward to my mind being re-assembled for two years on this site, only to be blown apart again with Paradise/Prometheus 2!

I heard that RS is gonna direct a film for his brother that died(also has fassbender in), also bladerunner 2 to come out and then make prometheus 2, which i think will take 8 - 10 years

@denzel: where did you read/hear this? i havent seen anything about 8-10 years?

I was thinking each film would take 2-3 years to make, and there is 3... Ive seen on the internet about RS doing a film for his brother. (The councillor) i think its called. Fassbender stars as a lawyer who gets into the drug underworld. Ive heard RS say he's goin to do a bladerunner sequel on internet and on prometheus extras. (Although it could be after prometheus tbh) And then Paradise would be made. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
