3D Blu-ray is worth it for the documentary.

yeah...im a big amazon shopper. ive been watching those crazy prices on the prometheus discs (alas, i already have the 4 disc blu). Good looking out by you! hopefully some people can cash in on this. Also, do yourself a favor and purchase the 4 disc collectors set. 2 extra bucks is absolutely worth it for the bonus disc/4 hour documentary etc. Also note: the alien anthology blu ray set is 19.99 (contains breathtaking transfers of all 4 alien films + a boat load of special features + docs etc) At 20 bucks, the set is an absolute steal. crazy what you can get for a total of 35 bucks. hurry! these deals dont last very long (i sound like an amazon spokesperson. lol).

Can anyone tell me if in the 3D blu ray version, all the extra material other than the movie itself is 2D or 3D? Like the Furious Gods for example...

@nostromo: its best to think of the "3D blu ray set" as the "4 disc collectors set". Saying that the aforementioned set is the "3D set" has (understandably) confused folks (especially someone like myself who avoids 3d like the plague...i hate 3D, but thats a different discussion). Everything in the 4 disc collectors set is 2D except for one disc that contains the film in 3D. here is the disc breakdown: disc 1: (blu ray) theatrical Prometheus in 3D disc 2: (blu ray) theatrical Prometheus in 2D + all of the deleted scenes and some other goodies (weyland files, complete viral videos etc) disc 3: (blu ray) "furious gods" documentary in 2D (plus a bunch of archived artwork and other goodies) disc 4: (dvd + digital copy) theatrical prometheus in 2D (standard definition) as you can see, the 4 disc collectors set has everything. If you can get the set for a good price (and amazon has had a smoking deal going on for the last day or so), there is really no reason to get any of the other sets. Im very pleased with every aspect of the 4 disc collectors set. Also, the documentary is fantastic...one of the best/most thorough docs ive ever seen. Go buy it...now...before the price jumps back up. lol.

Thanks JoeyJoe, Thats kind of what I thought except for the repetitious versions of the theatrical release. As it turns out I have the Furious Gods and I agree it is the most amazing documentary on the making of any film let alone Prometheus that I have ever seen. I learned a lot about the state of he art of modern film making from that documentary. Ridley Scott is without a doubt my favorite director and is in his prime. I only hope he can continue to thrive and make his incredible movies. I now have basically all the viral videos and the rest of the material in blue ray to mp4 format and the 2D blue ray edition of Prometheus so I am saturated in it. The commentaries on that edition by RS and by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof are also fascinating. By the way I recently got the DVD Alien Quadrilogy set and was surprised to hear RS commenting with Sigurney Weaver I think on Alien about the idea of someday making a movie about who that space jockey was and this was taped like 10 years ago, so this idea has been on RS's mind for some time.
