• The alien ship from Aliens was not destroyed by the nuke and was made operational.
• The mapping system is understood and the ship’s trajectory from its origin is determined.
• Shaw’s last transmission combined with Ripley’s classified report modifies corporate policy: no more humans are sent to hazardous locations.
• The restored alien ship is fitted with a supercomputer and military technology then is sent first to Shaw’s last transmission location to investigate, then onto the Alien home planet.

MemberOvomorphDec-16-2012 11:23 AMHow far was the ship on LV-426 from Hadley's Hope? Bishop said that the colony area would be a cloud of vapour the size of Nebraska after the nuclear explosion, so that wouldn't bode well for any ship within several days' driving time.
Add to this the fact that the ship looked in pretty bad shape to begin with – Newt's parents entered through a massive crack in the side. I'd say that the options for making the ship 'operational' are quite limited, assuming it's not been vaporised.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

MemberOvomorphDec-16-2012 1:58 PMHello Indy John and zzplural
It could be assumed that the expected military rescue ship arrives after the colony on LV-426 is nuked. I would expect that after finding the ship (there is no indication that it was destroyed ) that reverse engineering would begin and that would take years. I simply like the links between the films and imagine what we would do if we recovered a UFO. The rescue ship would have Ripley's classified report and would take the appropriate precautions.
zzplural we can cheat a bit on the condition of the alien craft and not destroy the concept.

MemberChestbursterDec-16-2012 5:30 PMfor the sake of not destroying your concept, aliens colonial marines, being canon, has the derelict craft in the game and it is in tact so that means your idea could physically work

MemberOvomorphDec-18-2012 10:18 AMcuponator3000, I did not know that about the game - I'll have to check that out for some fun. It is interesting that alien ship in Prometheus was crashed into and fell hundreds of feet to the ground and it also appears to not be severely damaged. It might be interesting that the possibility of gaining yet another Engineer alien ship exists - besides the ship that Shaw and David have. Of course David stated that there are many ships on the moon.
How about some Engineer payback - if they're all as radical as Shaw encountered - then dump their own creations onto the Engineer home world.

MemberOvomorphDec-20-2012 10:14 AMTimeline and Context Problems:
After reading the Time line of Prometheus and Alien movies page it is clear that what I thought might be interesting subplots for Prometheus II just isn’t feasible since Prometheus’ story takes place before anything else in the timeline.
As to Shaw’s question regarding why they hate us it is possible that a rebel sect of the Engineers (Engineer Jihad) is responsible for the creation and distribution of the alien genesis. It will be interesting to see what subplots will be added with Shaw and David’s main theme.

MemberOvomorphDec-20-2012 4:13 PMOk... Here is my thoughts! At the end of Prometheus David does mention that there are many more ships, and they (David and Shaw) appear to leave on one. To where? (well shaw wanted to go to the engineers home planet) David said he could get them there! The ship leaves!!
Meanwhile back at the lifeboat, an Alien spills out of the dead engineer, and stands to present itself. Now this fella i think is the one responsible for the eggs laid in the fallen Engineers vessel.
Fast forward to when the colony on said LV-426 is established, and the family find the vessel, and the eggs.
This is an area that could be expanded on, what happens to them, and how they get wiped out, all but one 'Newt'
More interesting is of course where does the ship (Shaw and David) take them?, and what is waiting for them there, and or on board the ship with them???

It is possible that the Alien that spills out of the Engineer could become an egg layer since it was seeded in Shaw. However, by the time of Nostromo I'm not certain we are dealing with the same planetoid or ship but I can't see any reason why that could not be worked out. I'm more interested in a good scifi movie than worrying about the smallest of details.
I was curious as to why military androids could not be used in certain situations since they have the likes of David, Ash, and Bishop.
