MemberOvomorphDec-24-2012 10:47 AMOn a recent viewing of our movie that Vickers says her job iot mkae others do their job.
Janek says his job is fly the ship.
Jackson tells Shaw his job to make ecerybosy safe and secure.
But then Shaw corrects him to say this is a scientific expedition and no weopons are needed.
In any kind of group effort there are4 certainly assigned jobs. THwere is also a person sort of looking over everything to keep the goal in mind as the tasks are being done.
If, as Weyland says, Drs. Holloway and Shaw are in charge Shaw must not have been included in much of the key mission planning but were just pawns to be used by Weyland to achieve Immortality.
In fact since David had to introduce himself to Shaw, Vickers had to introduce herself to members of the crew she didn't hire and Jackson had a job to do that Shaw did not approve od the 'true believers' were kept quite distant from the actual processes needed for a expedition of this size and magnatude.
Speaking of David's Job Description who/what actually created his? Perhaps David's role was just to survive without losing his head.
What's your Job?

I don't know, I just work here.
The whole point of this is lost if you keep it a secret.

MemberOvomorphDec-24-2012 12:17 PMHere's some work for you to do boys...
Why does David wear rubber gloves when talking to Weyland at the cryo?
And why do some of the characters say "down there" when referring to the dome?

Maybe he's checking out Weyland's prostate?

MemberOvomorphDec-24-2012 1:57 PMTHis question has been raised before but to me there was never a satisactory answer.
THe best explanation ws that they were referring to the tunnels which were under the dome and connected to the Juggernaut locations.
In fact there were quite a few rooms/areas down there not explored by humans. I don't know if David was checking into this,.
Maybe that is the answer,,but ro my ears it just didn't sound right..
Perhaps, javablue. you have a better explanation.

MemberOvomorphDec-25-2012 4:56 AMThey've either in orbit or much deeper under the dome then we think they are. There will be no simple explanations.

MemberOvomorphDec-27-2012 8:09 AMDavid wore rubber gloves because – despite being a robot – his dirty hands can still pick up a lot of bugs, and Weyland's immune system is not at its best.
The Juggernaut – and indeed the tunnel that links it to the pyramid – are both well below ground level. "Down there" describes the situation rather succinctly.

MemberOvomorphDec-27-2012 9:21 AMWeyland's in a cryo. I'd say it would be well sealed off from the outside environment. David didn't use gloves when he did Shaw's dreams or when he washed Weyland's feet. Neither did Weyland's handlers wear rubber gloves.
Fifield wasn't in the juggernaut when he said "down here". And nobody who entered the dome seemed to walk down at any stage. The juggernaut is more just below the surface than deep down and, besides, nobody knows where David has been. "Down there" describes the situation as succinctly as triangular describes spherical.

MemberOvomorphDec-27-2012 5:08 PM"Well sealed off" would not include bringing dirty hands into the place. You appear to be having problems with definitions again, java.
Shaw – and the rest of the crew in cryo-stasis – were young healthy individuals who did not require the kind of medical care offered to Weyland. No special attention needed. The last time I checked, surgeons don't wear gloves while they are washing their hands.
You have no idea from the interior shots whether anyone was walking down or not, as no external point of reference is shown. But the holographic display shows very clearly that the linking tunnel is well underground.
Something you may have forgotten, in your seemingly insatiable appetite for inconsequential trivia, is that the bridge of the Prometheus was at least four storeys high. Some might say well above goings on down below.

I am ready for some consequential trivia(or is that an oxymoron?)
The question of 'going down' has been discussed several times. I still find it a curious term when it is used in the movie, However this was before how it was pointed out that there were several tunnels ultimatly leading to the Juggernauts.
It stil seems to me that the pyramids are not giving a great resprct by movie viewers.
As depicted there were many storylines started and hinted at during the movie that were just left open ended.
Why is that?
It could be just a red herring, seemingly important now. Until RS presents us with the next storyline we cannot be sure what is important on just inconsequential trivia.
I just think posters just want to cover all bases so as to not look foolish during the rest of the adventure..

Breaking News: NASA's manned mission to Mars cancelled. Mums worried about dirty hands.
Discussion between Ridley and Lindelof.
RS: Anyone close to figuring out what's really happening in Prometheus?
DL: Not even close. Most of them still think the dome is a pyramid.
RS: Jesus! Really?
DL: Not only that but some of them come up with the most convoluted arguments to "prove" the dome is a pyramid.
RS: Amazing.
DL: Guess we have the answer to the movie's thematic question - "Who creates reality."
RS: Yes, the media; not the individual.
DL: It's scary to think that by continuously repeating the word pyramid in the viral campaign we could cause people to see a pyramid when they were obviously looking at a dome.
RS: Very scary. Are we now just a race of media bunnies?
