We all know that the Sacrifical Engineer gave his life in order to create life on Earth. I for one, do not think this is something I could do. Do you think our race could ever do something this noble, and is that what makes an Engineer different?

The purest form of giving to the dieties. In Babylonian it was Geshtu and so on so forth.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

People now sacrifice their lives fro other human beings,,even if it was just one loved one. So on the grand scale of our movie I think many would consider the calling. The hard part would be to make sure the sacrificed one is worthy of this act and not just a goof ball that just wants to screw things up. I would think with such a grand

http://www.prometheus2-movie.com/replies.php?id=7436 Anunnaki50 I found the link to an earlier thread that sort of goes into the the subject you mention including Geshtu. It gave a bit of perspective on the subject you discussed in the most recent post. THis whole subject matter is hard for me to grasp. Several readings are in order. Ultimate it doesn't chage the storyline as presented by RS. You just have to wonder why he did it this way with various ancient Earth references around.

While our society does indeed give a lot of lip service to the idea of sacrificing oneself for the benefit of our country, such as in military service or police officers, most of us here are admittedly far too self centered and materialistic to sacrifice ourselves to some great cause like that. However having said that, as has been also pointed out there would be no end to individuals who would jump at the chance to donate their personal lives that they may find devoid of meaning, and trade it for the ultimate legacy of fathering an entire species. No not me! lol

Its actually based on the ancient act of just adorning someone and making them basically a 'king for a day' before sacrfice. The Mexica/Aztecs would do this to a man who was well built and beautiful, a perfect sacrifice for the "gods". He was treated with the utmost respect and could have all the women he wanted, food and drink also. He was only treated this way for One year then his back was bent over the Quauxicalli or eagle stone and then the priest would take his Tecpatl and slice open under the ribcage in order to get at his heart. In Aztec myth a "god" named Nanawatzin dove into the fire of the cosmos and thus creating the Sun. After that they would essantially return the favor because they had a litteral belief in order to keep the world going.

i can understand sacrifice for the already living but dying for something that doesnt yet exist seems kinda extreme it seems that it would be part of a taught spititual beleif rather than an instinctive attitude IMO he seems like a monk of some spiritual brethren as opposed to a soldier (angry bob) or joe public engineer if they have regular guy/gal engineers......

@caenorhabhditis that is my point exactly! It is easy to say, "I would die for my family/country/things known to me.' But, to die for something that may be created, just to be destroyed? What? Not me!
