i was wondering why there was one engineer left on the planet and takes his own life, i got alot of things on my mind why. 1) he was sentenced to die there. 2) he was escaping the plague or contagion.... since there were others on record running away ( the one got decapitated). 3) he was a different thinker and wanted to sacrifice himself for a better race. im not sure if there's a story/reason why this happened because i havent found it in this site if there is please share the link with me just to quench my curiosity ... thanks folks!

Hi HadesSpark, I have on or two theories that are still developing around the point you have raised. Don't know if you have read this thread. An unexpectied sacrifice? or Murder

he was a scarafice because in the extended scene on the dvd there are a group of engineers with him. the elder hands him the goo. also a scene was deleted that involved the elder blessing the scrafical engineer before leaving him alone.

You have access to the exrtended scene. Do you take the Elder's scenes as being canon? or just a director's option for possible use Based on the reg DVD release it was not clear how this jar of 'goo' was perpared for the Sacrifial Engineer's use. That is why HadesSpark #3 suggestion was the most intersting to me. It seems to me that RS was quated as saying the released vers of prometheus was the Director's cut, what he wanted to represent the story. I do wonder about that since extended and deletes scenes are included in some DVD releases. Once you have seen another aspect of scene(like the Elders) it kinda hard to put it aside. Stilll I would have liked to see the last storyline suggested in the heading explored.
