MemberOvomorphJan-26-2013 6:37 PMThis just dawned on me the other day and I found this site, not sure if anyone else has hit on this. In Prometheus, it is of course discovered that the Engineers were thousands of years ago planning the annihilation of mankind. In Alien, yet another derelict is discovered, this one with a fossilized engineer, at least thousands of years old. I've heard speculation that perhaps future sequels to Prometheus might set up the events encountered by the crew on a different moon in Alien. However, this makes no sense temporally, as the engineer in Alien has again, already been fossilized for thousands of years. What really struck me was that in both Prometheus and Alien, Engineers are encountered who, in both cases, were thousands of years ago planning a holocaust on humanity. Might the derelict encountered in Alien have been part of the same master program to annihilate humanity, and if so...this would mean that eggs, facehuggers, and the xenomorph itself were already present during the time in which Prometheus takes place, albeit secured in the cargo hold of the derelict from Scott's original film, quietly awaiting discovery by Captain Dallas and crew. Any thoughts?

AdminPraetorianJan-26-2013 7:45 PMIt's general consensus that Xeno's already existed before the events of Prometheus, seems they have for milennia. The Deacon is simply a new kind/breed of Xeno.

MemberOvomorphJan-26-2013 9:22 PMwell my two therorys there were two kinds of engineers ones who wanted to give life and to have succesors of there kind because maybe they were dieing or just wanted a sucessor and then some decided one they they might be abusive species of there power or they were not satisfied of humanity but then again that wouldn't explain why they're were two kinds of them fighting inside the temple like the died ones but, that could be because they might have goten infected with the black goo but, that only spreads they're DNA like in the begining. or that could of been another chemical.

MemberOvomorphJan-26-2013 9:33 PMokay when holloway and david go to look for there homeworld and another deterlict ship tries to go to earth the black goo comes out and infects someone and makes a trilobite and it lays the egg in a engi and the ship fall to lv 426 and makes a deacon whicj might have the ability to lay eggs but since we know nada about deacons well never know and i believe avp and promethues are canon because predator 2 in its ship has a engis helmet and xeno head and in avp 3 video game theres an audio diary about ellen ripley and one about the events in avp 1.

I do belive that a type of xeno existed before prometheus, but i think its not the type found in alien and aliens. Maybe more like the decon or a variation of it.

MemberChestbursterJan-26-2013 11:20 PMI think that the Alien seen in the 1979 movie is the original so it has always been around (whether organic or engineered) and along with it there is endless possibilities of the type of Xenos.
For example, the dog runner in Alien 3. Or(just for reference, i have no true belief in avp as canon) the predalien. The xenomorph will take on the traits of it's different hosts because of the different species. so the answer to the question of xenomorphs being around before prometheus is yes.

As far as the xeno/alien existing prior to prometheus? Thats a big YES in my book. A traditional Alien egg is depicted in prometheus (ceiling fresco)...a traditional xeno hand is depicted in prometheus (same fresco). In addition, i think its very clear that the filmmakers are implying that the "derelict" juggernaut found on LV 426 was sitting there on LV 426 prior to shaw and the rest of the crew landing on LV 223. The derelict ship landed on LV 426 as a result of the outbreak that occurred on LV 223 (approximately 2000 years prior to the crew of the prometheus landing on LV 223). As cuponator said, whether it was engineered or not, the traditional alien pre-dates the adventures of dr. shaw et al. (imo)

MemberOvomorphJan-27-2013 1:58 AMI have mixed emotions about the whole Predator/Alien connection I think they are tied but maybe in more of a subtle way. I agree with joeyjoe on the fact that AVP and AVPR arent really part of the canon. It was all based from a comic book but I still like the movies but their just not canon. I kind of think that maybe the movies P1, P2, and Predators could have more of a connection than the AVP ones. Prometheus to me is also part of Alien obviously but its also its own entity all in its self. The Space Jockey has always facinated me since I first saw them way back then.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I want the Giger ante upped and the Necronomicon's phantasms come to life.
This together with a good dose of Carlos Huante's white Deacon thrown in would be near perfect for me.

Hmm if the goo allows the form of the xeno dictated by the host,,then really each xeno must be different when other species are encountered.
I wonder if the Deacon is an exclusive? If anyonter infection occur, somehow, then the resulting xeno mould be diffreent even if there is Engineer involved.
