I've always been curious. Being an Alien fanatic there's different cuts from Alien all the way to Alien vs. Predator Requiem. I was curious as how all you Alien fans out there think these films should be watched officially. For example if a friend of yours wanted to watch the Alien films and they never had seen them before which cuts of Alien through AVPR would you have them watch starting with Prometheus and so forth what cuts would you choose from each film for them to watch. Prometheus- One cut Alien- Theatrical Cut or Directors Cut Aliens- Theatrical Cut or Directors Cut Alien 3- Theatrical Cut or Assembly Cut Alien Resurrection- Theatrical Cut or Directors Cut Alien vs. Predator- Rated cut or Unrated Cut Alien vs. Predator Requiem- Rated cut or Unrated Cut

I would suggest the director's or assembly cut for every movie and if oyu really want to watch avp get the unrated ones.

1) Prometheus 2) Alien (theatrical) 3) that's it, stop watching and quit while you're ahead!! Honestly, I wish I could forget the rest existed. Cameron's sequel was okay (yes, just okay) but the sequels that followed were embarrassing.

@jenjitsu17 I totally agree with you genjitsu17. Its the best way. @fleshvessel Yours is the 'purest' way to watch the alien franchise....but i still like 2 and 3(except the queen).

I like how your list just ends so abruptly with Prometheus. there is no other way to put it, but still funny :)

hehe. i just cant stand alien resurrection and the AVPs. Cant even make it through any of the aforementioned films. I would put prometheus at the beginning, but i really enjoy taking in the first 3 and then punctuating them with prometheus. 3 really strong films (79, 86, 12) and a pretty good/underrated film (alien 3).

It depends on the mood for me. Some times I watch the theatrical versions other times the Directors cut/special editions. 1) Alien (both) 2) Aliens (both) 3) Alien 3 (both & bootleg workprint) I ignore Prometheus, Alien Resurrection and the AVP movies.

1. Prometheus 2. Alien theatrical cut 3. Aliens special edition 4. Alien 3 assembly cut I thought Alien Resurrection was okay. Their are good moments in it but not the rest of it. Including the horrible statement about Weyland being bought out by walmart - ugh! AVP and AVPR they don't exist at all.

Order is easy with this one for me... 1. Alien - theatrical cut 2. Aliens - special edition cut 3. Alien3 - assembly cut 4. Prometheus - theatrical cut with some deleted scenes added back in (alternate beginning, Vickers-Janek scene, alternate end battle scene would be the main ones) I wouldn't bother watching Alien Ressurection or either AvP movie. As far as I am concerned they are not canon. End of.
