First I apologize in advance if I have missed/misunderstood something, and I want to say that I am a great fan of the Prometheus + Alien Quadrology and Ridley Scott. I WANT to see the Prometheus sequels. This discussion is only a reflection on my behalf of the first part of the Prometheus trilogy.
The movie raises fewer questions if you havent seen the Alien Quadrology/Ripley Saga. But since the film is the first part in a trilogy, meaning - unlike the other movies in the Alien Quadrology/Ripley Saga, which were more or less like closed chapters, this movie is expected to leave you wondering and speculating. And no question left open in this movie is of a kind that future two movies cant address.
All the Questions regarding medicine, Weyland, Vickers and David I have seen are all too easy to answer, you dont need to see the virals or any other information presented off the silver screen, and if you are familiar with the Quadrology then you know- "the older models were always a little twitchy" and the Weyland company(family) has always been, well, a little - different, a family with a most stressful agenda.
Regarding the plot...
Premises:
1.Humans are part of a "process" in which the Engineers have an ultimate evolutionary goal.
2.Process: Goo+species1->species2+species3->Original Queen->eggs->huggers+species4->alien/Queen. Form of alien and Queen(Aliens and Alien3) depends on host-species4 (human in 1,2 & 4, and dog in Alien3). But note that the first original Queen depends on species2 and 3.
3.Goo acts differently, depends on how it is applied and to which species. Black goo doesn't kill but changes->hence no WMD but tool, in Engineers POV.
4.Goo+Engineer (drink, Earth -or any other planet)->Engineer disintegrates->DNA that can be mixed with other species or grown into something else. Hence Human/Engineers match in DNA. Movie asks: Are we created separately from life on earth?
5.Goo+Human (drink and then sex)->Octopus+Engineer(mouth impregnation)->Original Queen (variant1)
6.Goo+Human (dived into the goo and drank it) ->crazy mutated geologist (Fifield, well he seemed a little bit on his own before the mutation)
7.Alien 1 LV426 derelict ship -presumed escape from outbreak on LV223:
Presumed process:Goo+Worm->Snake+Engineer(mouth impregnation)->Original Queen(variant2, not seen in Alien 1)->eggs->facehugger+Human->alien(in Alien)/Queen(in Aliens)
Question1: If the Original Queen's look in an evolutionary strand differs due to the mix of its parents, we know that from Prometheus(Octopus+Engineer) is different from the one on LV426 (Aliens, see Premise 7). The Original Queens on the two planets are not the same, since the creation process is different, in Aliens its born by a human but lays eggs looking exactly as the one on the Engineer's ship in Alien 1? The eggs in the derelict ship were laid by an Original Queen stemming from Goo+worm->Snake+Engineer->Original Queen. Is this a Plothole, when all movies are taken into account?
Unless the ship on LV426 was not from the outbreak and the eggs were created by an Original Queen with Human DNA, but a Human impregnated with what and how? Since we already know a Human + Goo is either a zombified human(drink, Dr Holloway) or give birth to an Octopus(sex with a plagued, I assume normal sex with a species2 (premise 2) is not possible). Is this where epigenetics come into play? Or are the eggs in Alien 1 result from an Original Queen with human DNA, only transported, and the Jockey gave "birth" not to an Original Queen but just an alien trooper which faded away somewhere on LV426?
Question2: What is the engineers ultimate goal for Earth?
If the engineers would have had it their way, the process for Earth would have been:
Goo+Engineer(mouth)+crosspecies/mutations+more Goo(if the Engineers had returned to Earth)+humans->Octopus or zombification(Dr Holloway, Shaws boyfriend) and then?!?!? What is the ultimate goal? What would have happened if the Goo got into contact with an elephant or a lion in this process? Or a whale? Would that mess upp the process?
Perhaps Octopus+Human should result in an Original Queen(variant 3), but would this Queen lay eggs -> huggers + species Y ->alien, and would this alien look like the alien in Alien 1,2 and 4 similar to depicted on the fresc?
Species Y - because, would there be any humans left? Would all of humanity turned into Octopuses or Zombies, or would the Original Queen kill the Octopuses and Zombies since they would have been intermediary DNA material which could threat the Humans left needed as breeding material and could potentially create new competitive Original Queens? If the ultimate goal is to create the aliens, then the cargo of the derelict ship in Alien 1 is valuable to the Engineers, why would they send a signal that could be interpreted as a warning? The more aliens, the merrier...or was the ship on LV426 from the outbreak on LV223 at all? Was the Jockey an Engineer? Who was in the Spacesuit? Is premise 7 correct? Were there any worms at all involved in the outbreak on LV223 (aka the Great Worm Conspiracy)? Traitors in Engineers' midst? When Shaw steps on the ground, her foot leaves the worms on the ground that later turn into snakes. We know that the Goo wasn't mixed with an Engineer (premise 4). Were the eggs in the derelict ship derived from Ms Shaw in some later part in the series? Was it Ms Shaw's great grandkidz that infested Nostromo and Hadleys Hope? I guess it all comes back to Ridleys statement "Whats the Jockey's story?".
Have I missed or missunderstood something?
Finally regarding the title...
Engineer's God(prometheus) creates->engineers(prometheus) creates->humanity(prometheus) creates->android(prometheus) creates->"Call" in Alien4 (Auton)
Puh! All this to create Ms Ryder!!! ;-)
All these question must be answered in the two upcoming parts.
Definately looking forward to part2!!!
Get it done!
