Best Portrayal of the Alien

MemberOvomorphAugust 26, 2013Personally, I'm a fan of the original smooth head/fluid moving alien as opposed to the "crunchy" ridged head design in Aliens. I also think that the alien is too often portrayed as mindless and easy to kill in some of the novels. Which movies/games/comics/novels do you think most accurately portrays your ideal "Alien?"

Me too xeno-alpha. That aspic-like cranium & the evil grin were awesome too! :-)

The first looked like a serial killer, and after that...little by little we start to see the animal. So for me the best of all is the first Alien.

I prefer the 'Aliens' Xenomorph head sculpt but the tail of the 'Alien vs Predator' Xenomorph is a lot cooler in my opinion

Easily Giger's original design for ALIEN. Unlike Aliens, Alien Resurrection and the AvP films, it showed the Alien as an intelligent creature, instead of a mindless soldier. As much as I do like the "Hive" ideas which were developed in ALIENS, I much prefer the sole Alien haunting a crew in confined spaces. Way more terrifying.

The first for me as well. I believe that was the first-time, that anything 'alien' looked truly fear-inducing authentic, on-screen. The reports concerning the audiences of '79 freaking-out; weren't exaggerated in the slightest. I became afraid to eat eggs, & eventually convinced myself I had an 'ALIEN' growing inside me (for about 2 months).
Thanks Nostromo9468. ^_^

I like my eggs scrambled...here I am with the ORIGINAL Alien costume from the first Alien film. It was being displayed at the EMP Museum in Seattle.

the original is my fave by far. i love the head and how you can see the scull underneath. i prefer the large jelly filled sensory organ that was described for the first alien...
the hard ridge heads dont make any sense to me on how they can detect anything since they seems to have no ocular cavities, no nasal cavity, so on.

The one in alien because it was like human being trapped inside a monster that is uinable to control its instincts inspite of its intelligence. The horror of this was never explored a2 - a4. Prometheus though might touch upon it again.

The original Alien is probably the best portrayal of the creature. For the first time in Sci-Fi, we got an alien creature that felt truly alien. It was not humanoid or like a creature. It felt like an intelligent, terrifying being that blew everyone's imagination.

The original. As said before, AVP's Xenomorph had an awesome tail but the first film's Xeno had a cooler look minus the tail.

Think that the alien queen in Aliens was probably the best design in my opinion, definitely queen size and had the enormous head fin at the back. Giger's brain child was always the creative advisor on the films and it seemed that the more alien films were made the wackier the designs would become, check out the alien is resurrection.

the original is always best

The original and the Deacon. AVP aliens look awful, I could stand them in resurrection because they were mutants but to say that's what Aliens really look like bugs me.
Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.

I like Grid. He was smart, fast, agile, and his scars were cool. Not like the simple, easy-kill attack Warriors in Aliens. The Predalien is my number two, Chet Predalien is BOSS! :D

Oh dear, I posted a long reply to this but I'm afraid it took so long it gave me an error 404 when I tried to post it.
'All my blah, blah, blah'
The Lurker (Classic Alien) is closest, but I honestly don't think we have ever truly seen the perfect representation of a Xeno to be honest, at least not yet.
At the first light of this Unrelenting Dawn, all will see the world for it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s entirety, not just it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s shadows.

There is no perfect portrayal. In every single film, they are in a different environment. The Alien in the first film was more simple, due to the fact it's environment was simple. In Aliens, the Xenomorphs are more Killing-Machine like due to the fact that the environment was more of a kill or be killed, and the fact that there was actual weapon resistance. (the flamethrower in Alien doesn't count, because there was no offspring in the film, so they didn't evolve.) What i'm trying to say is the creature designers for all films designed them specifically, as if they had evolved for the environment they lived in. But, again, that's just my opinion.

I have to say the design from ressurection and their behavioral quirks were my favourite ones, like you could see the level of cunning that was being used.
