The First Child
MemberOvomorphOctober 02, 2013David 8 is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting characters in the alien franchise. I personally believe that he is some how the key to the creation of the Xenomorph encountered in Alien and Aliens. But how? Here is my reasons:
In Prometheus we get to see a lot of David before the crew wakes up. Drinks milk, plays games, and watches movies, while studying various languages. Our first impression of David is that he is some form of robot with, a soul.
Later on, while the hologram of Mr. Weyland is playing, I noticed something interesting. When Peter talks about David never growing old or dieing, David appears happy and confident. Yet when Weyland says that his beloved son will never have a soul, David looks almost as if he is ashamed or about to grieve.
In Paradise, or Prometheus 2, I think David is going to try and get a soul. Sadly, however, from the main antagonist of this franchise, the Deacon. The Deacon will tell David that it can grant him a soul and the chance to be a real organism IF, he shares his most precious gift, immortality.
Once agreeing to this, David will become a Xenomorph, who do to its new gifts will be immortal and thus able to produce eggs that can withstand decades of inactivity.
This would make him, as Ash said, the "perfect" organism.
