MemberOvomorphOct-02-2013 11:16 PMDavid 8 is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting characters in the alien franchise. I personally believe that he is some how the key to the creation of the Xenomorph encountered in Alien and Aliens. But how? Here is my reasons:
In Prometheus we get to see a lot of David before the crew wakes up. Drinks milk, plays games, and watches movies, while studying various languages. Our first impression of David is that he is some form of robot with, a soul.
Later on, while the hologram of Mr. Weyland is playing, I noticed something interesting. When Peter talks about David never growing old or dieing, David appears happy and confident. Yet when Weyland says that his beloved son will never have a soul, David looks almost as if he is ashamed or about to grieve.
In Paradise, or Prometheus 2, I think David is going to try and get a soul. Sadly, however, from the main antagonist of this franchise, the Deacon. The Deacon will tell David that it can grant him a soul and the chance to be a real organism IF, he shares his most precious gift, immortality.
Once agreeing to this, David will become a Xenomorph, who do to its new gifts will be immortal and thus able to produce eggs that can withstand decades of inactivity.
This would make him, as Ash said, the "perfect" organism.

AdminPraetorianOct-03-2013 12:18 AMYes, myself and others too have noted on this forum that David looked crestfallen when Weyland claimed he did not have a soul. I think the fact he is self-aware means he has a soul, it's a 'I think, therefore I am' type situation and that being conscious of one's own existence, at least theoretically, refers to 'the soul'.

MemberDeaconOct-03-2013 5:53 AMI think David will play the most important part of the franchise, because ultimately he has his own Agenda and Shaw is well slave to his will because Shaw knows without Davids help, she will just rot on LV 223 with no Answers and never seeing another person again..
I think that some kind of chaotic event will occur over the next few movies but not sure its one that directly effects the events of the Alien Franchise, but would effect the occupants on Paradise.
As i think we have been given enough clues to suggest the Xeno has been around for Milena before the events of Prometheus...
However before seeing Prometheus indeed from the clues we saw in the Trailers etc, i also thought that David would indeed have something to do with the Xeno.
And its as you said, David does not have a Soul because he is not Mortal he is only a Robot, and while Weyland is in search of Eternal Life, i wondered if David would be in search of ways to finally free him from being just a machine.
And that he would do something to himself to become part machine and part mortal, in that he steal the Engineers Tech.
And then ultimately while he is now part living, he would have left himself open to be eventually Face Hugged by Shaws baby and then we see David give birth to the first Xeno Queen or a Organism that can produce Eggs some way.
Off course question would be how do Eggs get on LV 426, well David would have to make a journey there before getting chest busted.
But this idea was too much Alien Prequel and its how do you follow it on......
So i am glad that something like the above never occurred or else how would Shaw be able to go about trying to find out where the Engineers came from.

MemberOvomorphOct-03-2013 6:07 AMI must say I love the idea of david being apart of the xenos creation. Judging by the deacon and the role david played in that(david infecting hollaway, then him passing it on the shaw. Then shaw having the alien baby facehuggar, that facehuggar inpregnating the engineer). I would say that hes half way there.
As for david and shaw relationship, I think that they both need each other equally and both have seperate agendas.
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

MemberOvomorphOct-03-2013 9:23 AMDavid is already a near-perfect organism; arguably more so than the good-old Xeno. Can a xeno have its head ripped off and survive? Not to mention his intelligence and ability to learn so quickly.
Furthermore, David "becoming a xeno" seems a little too bizarre, even for this franchise. The Engineers don't seem to work with synthetics; they instead use organic materials, so David 'merging' with any of their tech seems like a stretch to me.
David is already hyper-intelligent, has superior strength (which we have not yet seen, but heard about) and is immortal. I'd say that trumps being a Xenomorph, no? Why would he give up the amazing gifts he already has?
Also, I've read a few threads now about 'communicating' or 'making deals with' The Deacon or other Xenos. Am i missing something? Since when can one just walk up and propose a deal with a friggin' Rabid, seething, hateful Xeno?
Do tell.

MemberFacehuggerOct-03-2013 10:43 AMDavid is a near perfect organism :O your idea of perfect must be very low lol! I reckon the engineers even though they are mear children to the elders look at david as a baby! And we havnt even seen this demi god thing rumoured to be coming which will probably be light years ahead in perfection...

Yeah my thoughts on it was before the movie was released, when we saw the trailers and the Bio Mech look of the Xeno looked more mechanical than organic appearance of the Engineer....
But at that time i also wondered if it was David in Engineer suit attacking Shaw as the one trailer showed the Engineer above Shaw and he looked no where near over 7ft in that clip.
After the movie was released it put to bed some of the ideas i had from clues shown in the trailers lol.
All signs does seem to show the Engineers Tech well the Black Goo does not affect non organic matter.

MemberNeomorphOct-03-2013 11:53 AM@The First Child. I like it! It would explain why the Giger Alien is bio-mechanical. However, I think communicating with the deacon would be a bit OTT. It would be very interesting to find out what would happen if he drank the black stuff!
The poster was good though!

MemberXenomorphOct-03-2013 1:21 PMI think ridley was going for the hal 9000 god entity relationship . Who spoke to hal 9000 ? Might it be that who ever created the elders/super elders who might actually be A being of pure energy like a god might actually end up having a relationship with david maybe granting him a soul and perhaps reuniting shaw with her parents and maybe even halloway. That could be nice for the enf of p2.
But in an ambigious way.....
Ofcourse

MemberOvomorphNov-10-2013 7:04 PMInteresting concept but I get the feeling David will seek to find a way to replicate himself and become a new, superior race to humans. Whether that is with the Deacon, using the goo or something else remains to be seen.
Just feel like the 'destroy to create' and 'want their parent to die' will be something that plays out in the story.
