MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 1:09 PMI haven't heard any news about the cast of Prometheus Paradise. Who do you think should be in this movie?

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 6:08 PMI would love to see some more of Guy Pearce. He is an incredible actor and he was so under-utilized in the original movie. I would kill for some flashbacks of a young Weyland, or in some way incorporate Guy into the sequel.
As Weyland is somewhat of a father figure to David, he still plays an important role, and is still relevant to this story. I hope it happens!!

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 6:17 PMI seriously think we might see more of Weyland in flashbacks or pre-recorded messages. Perhaps even some memory data inside David's head (!?).
I'd like to believe we'll see Elizabeth's father a bit more as well. Patrick Wilson is not the biggest star on Earth, but why would they even bother hiring him to do just a bit part like that? Elizabeth's father and his untimely death are a big motivation to her.

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 6:22 PM@Cremildo,
I bet you're right! Patrick Wilson was awesome as Shaw's father, even if only for 40 seconds :) I would put money on seeing him again too- good call!!
Of course, Fassbender (my same-sex celeb crush, lol) will steal the show regardless, but I am very curious to see who else may be in line to become Deacon Dinner!

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 9:14 PMA few months ago news circulated that Danny Webb may reprise his role as Morse from Alien 3. He's listed as rumored cast on IMDB for Prometheus 2.
Seems unlikely to me because Alien 3 takes place about 90 years after Prometheus, and I don't think Ridley would want to connect those movie storylines. Alien 3 was pretty lousy anyway. Why go back to that?
As long as Rapace and Fassbender have major roles I'll be happy. I hope they signed contracts to return.

MemberOvomorphFeb-19-2014 11:34 PMCate Blanchette could play Mrs Weyland.
Guy Pearce could play Mr weyland's cloned 'Son'
There could be multiple Davids all played by Michael Fassbender.
Yoko Ono to play Mrs Utani...

MemberChestbursterFeb-20-2014 1:20 AMI definitely agree with Guy Pearce being in the film! If it is handled properly, his possible part could help make this movie into something great! I'd be interested if Morse or anyone from the Alien series were to somehow reprise a role, but I dont know how well that would go if they focused too much on the series as oppsed to going further in the oppposite direction like the Prometheus sequel ir rumored and seemingly meant to be.

MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2014 4:57 AMI wanna know what's up with the whole Morse thing. Is that just a rumor, or is the character actually coming back? How does that work..
Guy Pearce would be awesome to see again. I think we'll see a lot more of him in the past, and future.
My Paradise cast and characters would include:
Jude Law -- Ian Miles, a Weyland rep. who actually knows/cares that they're doing secret things. Unlike Burke. Although he tries to justify Weyland's actions.
Steven Yeun (from Walking Dead)-- Alex Kato, A Yutani rep. By the books, wants to know exactly what happened during Weyland's top secret mission. Yutani wants to overtake Weyland and absorb it, Weyland reps are thinking about selling shares.
Karen Gillan as Karen Delacroix -- A genetically engineered corporate plaything, Weyland execs can trade credits for lapdances (Chance bet that Miss Vickers was one of these). A clone of a real woman, Her mind is controlled by an android consciousness, but Jude Law frees her.
Tom Hardy or Karl Urban as Rook. The only Android programmed to kill...He's sworn to protect members of the faction he currently serves. His creator tried to sell him, built the best behavioural mods into him so he can judge when it's necessary. Designed specifically for combat. Engaging and defending multiple targets, unlike Judge Dredd he only kills when he has to. He runs on logic + survival instincts, never panics. This means he's stronger, faster, and more durable than any android we've met. Better than marines, a one man army. Discontinued because the Marines won't buy him (he does a better job, and they fear him), sold to the Three World Army. The only Rook created. One of a kind.
Michelle Rodriguez, Stephen Lang, Anthony Mackie, and Naveen Andrews: Three World Army members who own Rook. They control sections of space Weyland-Yutani doesn't, and hate the Marines. They barely deal with Weyland, left Earth in 2077. They're closer to LV-223 and Paradise. Will take less than a year to get there, they have a straight shot from the outer reaches to LV-223 and then Paradise. Yutani can contact them for a salvage mission. It'll cost them resources, and Jude Law has to give up some colonies to them (this faction dissolves and becomes the space pirates by the time of Alien Ressurrection).
One story follows W-Y & the Three world army's salvage trip as they try to track David & Shaw. As this happens we keep returning to David and Shaw on Paradise, in Crystal cities and ruins. And back to Jude Law on Earth, trying to get closer to where David went.
The second story would be Shaw and David meeting the Elders, finding out why Engineers wanna kill us, David becoming worshiped as a god by the upper class. W-Y has access to the hologram recordings back on Earth. Some feeds cut off near the end that Quiet eye didn't capture...The Three World team is sent to retrieve a black box type thing hidden in Vickers' lifeboat...Rook, Miles and Kato are trying to re-establish a quiet link to David & see what's going on with them through his shoulder cam. The only problem is there's a fully grown Deacon guarding the lifeboat. Rook manages to live, but he can't save them...Rook's team is mostly killed, salvaged, and transformed into a resource for the Deacon, mostly..He's not allowed to kill them and he's still working for them. He has to watch in horror as they start transforming, and plead to be killed.

some nice ideas...
But i dont think we should be spending too much time on the events of LV 223 and what happens with Weyland Corp etc, i think we could do with some stuff late on in the movie to set up Part 3 to show us what becomes of Weyland - Yutani and what becomes of LV 223 after the events of Prometheus and before Alien as surely there cant be nothing left to salvage on LV 223 by 2121 etc.
I dont think we should see much of the Deacon either.
I think Paradise needs to focus on Shaw and David and to find out more about these Engineers.
I do think Flashbacks could be used well, and would cast Guy Peirce as Weyland again and maybe have it be in Davids Memory Banks so maybe David has a dream.
I also think Shaw should have a dream, we know her Mother died when she was young like 8 or less and we know after her father must have died, so what happened to Shaw?
Maybe this could be used for a cameo role for Sigorney as she could be cast as Shaws Grandmother on Moms side and who then becomes her Legal Gardian. This would put Ripley and Shaw as being related of course Ripley could then had come about as Shaws Mother had a Sister or Brother that led to Ripley. I think this could work.. But only as a 5 min cameo to give Shaw some back ground.

MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2014 11:33 AMI do think a Sigourney cameo can work...I'm actually thinking we've been set up for it.
There was a mention of M-theory, or multiple timelines/multiverse theory, in the Weyland timeline, and some weird hints in the movie about time, like the way David records the mission time.
The whole dream scenario, viewing memories, possibly editing memories etc. is also something that could very likely be used to accomplish that. I totally think we'll see Sigourney show up in some way...

MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2014 1:27 PM@BigDave
I can totally see where you're coming from on the desire not to go back to LV-223. I just think going back later might be too much like backtracking, whereas this would be tracking. If they're planning on returning to it i think they've gotta do it now. Get Yutani involved and reveal that they were spying, David took most the data...They've gotta try to see what they can find out, and somehow divert a small team operating on the edges of space there.
The Deacon's chilling there waiting for someone to come along,.It's already setup, it can be shocking when we see its adult form. A sense of dramatic irony, followed by a shocking reveal of what it looks like now. I think it's very important to see Adult Deacon or an Alien in action within the first half of the movie. To include some Alien DNA. We already know how it came to be there, you could easily drop a team to start tracking Shaw and David, be done with it quickly..Shaw and David prob won't die so we need characters who can...
The split-story techique can be used to speed up both plots, if done correctly both plots would eventually meet up...Ideally, this would be done by only cutting away from Shaw when she's on her way to/from somewhere. Then cutting back to her when the action resumes, To make her travels around Paradise shorter. We'd only check in on the Weyland guys and the 3 ring guys now and then. Mainly as a framing device, where everyone wants to know where Shaw and David are. Only the audience gets to see what they're doing. Everyone else is wondering and trying to track them.
The focus would be on Shaw and David. They could really wow us with some awesome Engineer characters and happenings. But you eventually have to start moving some other characters into position, because, yeah, Shaw and David might not die. We don't need a high death count, We need someting to take the focus off Shaw and David for a while, to make their situations seem more life threatening..
The corporate politics angle might not seem interesting at first..It would really only be the start of the movie, similar to Aliens. Could show the seeds of the inevitable merger.
This would get some stuff out of the way before the third movie. Where you could skip all the company stuff and be done with that Deacon. Vickers hints that the boardmembers are already getting antsy. Weyland corp gives us something to focus on while David and Shaw arrive at Paradise. Possibly a quick board meeting about what happened. Just a way to start the movie and get new characters introduced early on their side of things. I'm sure they'll bring in some human characters to round things out a bit. Just speculating on what kind of roles they might have. Weyland flashbacks definitely seem possible.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-20-2014 2:00 PMWhen it comes to order of appearance, I would like to see a cat included in the credits. Maybe discover the history behind Jonesey.
HiveMinded
MemberOvomorphFeb-20-2014 2:39 PMMy True Detective skills revealed Jonesy as the hero known as Super Cat. I knew there was something different about that Cat!!! :P
In the past he was genetically altered to live longer. As a side-effect its senses increased. It became aware of the multiverse...it no longer perceives time linearly. It looks into our reality from the 4th dimension, and adds to his own purr power from other realities...lol
Weyland and Jonesy go way back, they both perceive time differently than us. Jonesy knew exacly what he was doing before he did it. Super Cat is really what the "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" connections are all about. The Space-time Canine, aka Weyland's dog, is Jonesy's arch nemesis. They've fought many battles across many worlds, lol
Jones had been through the points of space-time in Alien before... It got tired waiting in the locker, had to act surprised. Super Cat knew what it was dealing with, and steered clear of the Alien. Jonesy saved Ripley by hissing and distracting the Alien. He knew this would happen because of the "Eternal Repurrence" :)

MemberDeaconFeb-20-2014 4:30 PMI do think we could explore the LV 223 angle but i feel that with so much to cover maybe trying to cover both in one movie could get confusing, yes we could show bits of one story but devote say 70% to one plot, then have a 3rd movie devote no more than 20% to tie up lose ends from the main plot in part 2 and have at least half the movie finishing off what the 30% of the prior movie is showing and leaving 20-30% for stuff not covered in paradise but that will tie directly to Alien.
Lets break down some plot points from Paradise to Alien... i will try to cover plots that may not need much exploring first.
1) The Derelict on LV 426, how, why and when. I think we all know what went down, and Ridley did say. But if we see the Derelict cargo thread, then they could do a U-Turn and have the Egg Chamber as actually some Cargo Hold underground the Ship was docked too. But i dont think we have to go there in any detail if at all. And subtitle hints in 3, 4 or 5 could answer enough to put the pieces together.
2) The Weyland Yutani Merger, somewhere from Prometheus to Alien there is a company merger, how come and when? i dont think this should be explored in Part 2, maybe show some of Weyland wanting to send a recon mission and Yutani pondering what Weyland found and maybe show Weyland at a financial loss or in some kind of problems.. but i think showing us how the company merged could wait till Part 3.
3) The Xeno Origins and its connection but this could be answered in both 4 and 5 below.
4) What becomes of LV 223 after Prometheus, and that dont mean we have to see what becomes of the Deacon or Hammerheads... But we known Weyland know about the Invitation clues and why Prometheus set off to LV 223, and surely they would want to know what became of that mission. And sooner or latter the company would find Shaws SOS, and especially as the company seemed to know more than they let on in Alien i.e reason why Ash was Covertly added to the crew. so they must known about the signal or something in that area of the Galaxy.
So why does the company not have great deal of knowledge of the Xeno, not as much as Ripley had after Aliens, and why does the company go to LV 426 when LV 223 has far more riches, such as Engineer secrets and as David said there are many more Engineer ships and if David can fly them, then surely other Androids could too.
Nope surely by Alien LV 223 must have little or nothing left to salvage, but as of the end of Prometheus there is plenty to salvage from LV 223.
5) Shaw and Davids mission to the Engineers home world, what do they find, what state is the Engineer society in. Do they know of our creation? or our intended destruction? was the command given from Paradise? Do they know about LV 223? And the experiments? and the outbreak?
What was the Engineers Agenda? Why did they create us? What part did they play in the creation of the Xeno?
So many questions regarding them and these are the most important thing that warrent at least 2.5 hours of Screen time.

Necronom 4
MemberNeomorphFeb-20-2014 4:59 PMI think there should be 1 or 2 well known actors and the rest unknown or up and coming actors.
I could go crazy and start listing my favourite actors, like; Robert De Niro, Anthony Hopkins, Al Picino, Rutger Huaer etc etc.
But then i would have to think about what those actors would bring to a film like Prometheus 2. Would they do it justice?
NO, none of the above would do it justice, imho.
However, their are 2 well-known actors that would do it justice and they are also in my favourite actors list.
Gary Oldman could play a character who is like a CEO of the Company.
Paddy Consadine, another great actor, very deep and brings a sense of reality to whatever character he takes on. He could play a member of the rescue team who holds a dark secret.
I can think of a few great actors, but i couldn't imagine most of them in an ALIEN universe.
Cillian Murphy is another one who would do well in this universe, but i think that this film would do well by employing unknown, up and coming actors.
The poster was good though!
HiveMinded
MemberOvomorphFeb-21-2014 12:01 AM@ Necro
Cillian Murphy would fit in perfectly in this universe. Love that idea!
HiveMinded
MemberOvomorphFeb-21-2014 12:11 AM@ BigDave Yeah number 5 is what interests me the most. We really have no idea what to expect when they get to the Engineer homeworld.
There's so many different things that could be going on there. I hope they do sort of introduce us to an Engineeer character with a lot of personality, and that we get to see how a lot of them interact together.
I don't get why we can't have 3hr+ movies lol Other movies still do it all the time, although it was more common in older movies
BigDave
MemberDeaconFeb-21-2014 1:38 PMI think and hope that the movie could need a 5 hours + over two parts to cover near everything that needs to be while leaving some Ambiguity.
Right now LV 223 and Paradise are the biggest Plot Devices that are lose as far as Alien, we can guess and have enough information about LV 426 and about Weyland Yutani. But i think they need to be explored.
But the biggest ones are LV 223, simply because if by Alien and Aliens, LV 223 is close to LV 426 and i mean even if as close as in near by Star System and not simply same System.
Then surely LV 223 would still have more Temple Mounds, the Temple they went to has lots of Urns, we have the Hammerpedes, the Deacon. But more than that we have other complexes and as David suggested more Juggernaughts. So LV 223 has the wreckages of Prometheus and the Life Boat, it has Engineer Temples and Juggernaughts and thus a lot of riches to be had.
So why in Alien onwards do they chase after a Xeno sample..?
Nope surely by then LV 223 is destroyed...
Then we have the Engineers and Homeworld, if the Engineers wanted us dead, why have they not come to finish the job? Or check on how LV 223 is doing?
1) If its because these Engineers did not know about our destruction, or creation.
2) or they simply aborted another mission as after 2 failures we was not worth the hassle and put us down as not only a failed experiment but also that Earth is just as failed Petri Dish and to live us to rot to our own devices.
In the thought that we cant pose any threat to the Engineers as well we are n=inferior to them and with out their help we can not never have a chance to leaving Earth, let alone get to Paradise..
Then Surely no soon as Shaw and David turn up they would now realise who we are and how far we have come and that we have created Androids who can controll their Tech and that we know about LV 223 and the Bio Weapons and with Androids we can fly there ships.
Surely then the Engineers would want to proceed to Earth to wipe us all out...
So why are we here by Alien Resurrection?
Again once David has finished with Paradise there cant be much or nothing left of the Engineers, as David is bringing Hell with him.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2014 9:22 PMI’m trying to work out whether this thread is about plot development or cast ideas. That said, here is a plot development with a cast idea because until somebody actually knows what the script is, since there is no way of knowing how to dovetail an individual into a role.
One thing that is for sure, is that you have two main actors as centre pieces to the whole story that require supporting roles. Unless of course there is the introduction of a new central character.
One of the constants that has appeared in Alien and Aliens, is that Weyland, or the company if you prefer to label it that way, has a secret agenda. In alien it was the knowledge of a beacon and sending a ship to respond to it would result in an alien lifeform interacting with a human. In Aliens the same principle applies. Only on this occasion a human community is placed near the location of the derelict during a terraforming exercise. Prometheus does exactly the same thing, so there is common element here.
If Prometheus is the start of the whole story, then surely there must be a ‘company’ keeper of secrets.
We all know Peter Weyland had to go on his journey of exploration. It is fact theat he did not expect Vickers to be there. So who should be cast as number one in the Weyland empire. Who is the keeper of the secrets.
I think there is the opportunity of a background story running parallel to the main theme which opens up the playing field for some interesting character development and potential antagonists to Shaw and David.
I think Hugo Weaving could handle the role as a Weyland antagonist and possibly Sharlto Copley.
As for the rest of the cast, I would go with Necronoms line of thinking on this and go with more lesser known , yet up and coming people.
