Weyland and Yutani forming in the Prometheus 2?

No mention of a merger exists in the movie Prometheus, however in the Alien' film franchise the corporation is known as Weyland/Yutani Corporation. Well Ridley said that he would need to movies and lets look pretty much at what aspects so far are left to be covered before Alien.

Surely if these beings also want us destroyed then after Paradise why have they not done so?

1) The Engineers, we still dont know much about them and surely a visit to Paradise will give us answers, maybe Shaw will get her answers and do these Engineers, Elders or who ever is their creator feel the same about us as the LV 223 Engineers.

2) LV 223, as surely Weyland Industries may want to investigate what happened to Prometheus and surely on their way they would discover Shaws SOS and maybe also the LV 426 one....  LV 223 has temples, has Black Goo, as Jugernaughts and it has some Organisms created by the events of Prometheus.

But surely there would be nothing left on LV 223 by the time of Alien/Aliens.

3) Weyland Yutani Merger, the company does by the time of Alien in 2122 apear to had been merged so some event that caused this would have had to happen within like 28 years of Prometheus.

4) The Xeno Orgins, we still dont know where the Organism came from, and what relation it has with the Engineers and Black Goo.

5) We have not been shown why the Space Jockey had that cargo and where he was going to and what was his purpose, but we do have enough clues about this.

I dont know if we need to answer 5, and i think 4 does not have to be spoon fed but i think 1-3 would have to be adressed by the end of the Franchise.

I think a merger will happen eventually, but it doesn't have to be straight forward. We might only see how things gets started/things that lead to it. Could also be something that we're left to piece together.  More like a buyout or takeover rather than a merger.

I want it to be a little more complicated than deciding to merge to pool resources, I want them to almost be rivals at this point. Things could even be implied to happen between movies, or be saved for the third movie.  Like say we get reveals about Yutani really being the one in control now, buying up shares, and deciding to keep part of the Weyland name. Viral marketing for Paradise would focus on Yutani's own timeline, and existence pre-merge. The lawsuit that came up between the two in the past over David means they still don't see eye to eye. Weyland name only being used to keep up a public image.  Making it more of a corporate takeover initiated by David and Yutani, something we don't expect.

Maybe androids takeover the company by the future, are secretly in control after a certain point in time.  Basically the board of directors seen in Aliens would be a front, the androids secretly in control while leading and misleading the humans on the board of directors, controlling them with shares, and ensuring that Yutani retains the controlling share of the company. Crew has always been expendable to them, trick is not minding that it hurts, the humans are "only flesh and blood". Something really crazy that we wouldn't expect.

The Company's almost as big of a monster as the Alien, "you don't see them screwing eachother over for a percentage",

One thing I'm wondering about is the mention of "credits". Employees get credits at this point in time. Weyland corp was built by Peter, he was the majority shareholder/CEO, but maybe he had a little help from investors for the Prometheus project..Investors might expect results, they might expect the value of their stock in the company to increase.  Yutani could do something sneaky through some business moves and end up owning the majority of the company..By the time of Alien everyone might be concerned about percentages or shares of the company

Funny you mention  a few things that my script has in it lol, i have not made it into a total draft but i have many ideas that would then get evolved and expanded into scenes.. My main sticking point being the Engineer Connection and Xeno.  As the Human based ones i have pretty much figured out.

And regarding them you touch upon the Lawsuit with Yutani, and you ponder if Androids are in control, well the ideas i have for both pretty much echo what you said.  My idea had Weyland in a spot of bother as indeed Weyland had disappeared and his heir Vickers had gone on the mission, with no contact for weeks after last contact confirm the arrival at Zeta 2 system,  the company is left to be ran by Peter Weylands Nephew (Bishop the 1^st) who i could had played by Lance Henriksen whos father worked as partner to Peter and was Peters brother.

However this next in line member of the board is more interested in money that can be made in Military matters than Peters agenda to search for new colonies and latter to find life on new worlds.

My idea had a surprise though because Weyland left a message to be played after his death or in the event of, like the one that was played to the Prometheus crew and this message is shown to a mystery person and this person is informed by Weyland that they are not the heir to the company and that they have been given specific instructions on how to run the company and they have the power to recruit and fire who they want on the board to carry the company in the manner that Weyland wanted and not the legacy that his Nephew would....

Then during a board meeting this Nephew is talking about the future of the company and saying to ignore a message sent from Zeta 2 system and not to send out a mission to see what became of that mission, because it was a mission chasing crazy dreams of Weyland just off some cave paintings that Holloway and Shaw found, and that Weyland Corp will now concentrate on trying to monopolize the Military Aspects of Tech that now Yutani has a lead in because Weyland took his eye off the ball to concentrate on mining and terraforming etc.

But then a mystery person enters the room with a rep of Peter Weyland with the Laptop that holds the video sent by Weyland and Paper work leaving this company to Peters Hier and thus not his cousin Bishop.

This person interrupts Weylands Nephew and says that sorry you are not in charge anymore, i am the rightful inheritor of the company.... my cousin... and with that we see it is Vickers. 

My plot does leave the viewers thinking was Vickers on Prometheus a Android?, is this new Vickers a Android following Weylands orders.  Or are they both Androids... you find out at the end of the movie that then leads to Weylands Nephew taking control and the 3rd movie would show a mission sent off to LV 223 and at the end see a forced merger with Yutani.

I would not count on there being a more in depth development of the Weyland Ytani Corporation in the sequel to Prometheus.

In all of the Alien films and even in Alien VS Predator we never get to learn that much about real inner workings of the Weyland Yatani Corporation. Everyone has to understand that these are action films and as such it really does not move the plot forward for the average audience member to know the finer working details behind these plot details. The Weyland Ytani corporation is a plot detail in the film, not a major plot element and as such it does not require developing out a backstory so that it ties into the major parts of the plots of all of these films.

I am with everyone in this community on this one. I really would like there to be a much bigger story developed around the whole entire Weyland Ytani corp. In fact I think BigDave suggested having a spin off show. This would be great too; however, I do not think we are going to get this because in all the other films it deviates from all the action. Case in point, when Cameron filmed Aliens all that footage of the colony went to the cutting room floor. Why? Because it did not move the plot a major action film forward and it slowed everything down.

What I do find speculative and paradoxical though is watching so much of the “what” that is built by the Weyland Ytani or Weyland Corporation that goes into all the things that we see in Aliens and finally Prometheus. In essence we are watching very elaborate stories around all the technology that this corporation has put into space and yet paradoxically we get very little as to the back story of this corporation and yet we see all of it’s extremely elaborate efforts depicted in these films.     

I would prefer to have some validation on this than try to prove this much further. I like all the viewpoints expressed as to what might or what could take place leading up to Prometheus but seeing as what happened to Weyland I am not very confident that we will get the kind of back story that is more necessary for our discerning tastes. I think it was a mistake to do that to an important main character that is central in all of these films. Obviously if you intend on keeping a character and developing a back story further you do not do that to them in the end of Prometheus. It is regretable that it did happen the way that it did. David and Dr. Shaw are great characters however it goes without saying that nothing in these films would be possible were it not for the founders in the corporation. 

I think there could have been many more types of things learned on LV-223 that would certainly would have saved Peter Weyland and to me it was quite antithetical to do away with this legendary character so brazenly in what was less than anything entertaining. Nothing about the encounter with the Engineer seemed right In that scene. I still dislike it very much. Peter Weyland’s character to me is much more cleaver and super intelligent even when it comes to some off world expedition. He does not just run into a room and throw all is cards on the table. I just cannot accept this part of the plot. 

I think it would be one part that should be explored but the question would be in what detail.

Before Prometheus came about the questions regarding Alien Franchise would have been...

1) How did the Xeno come to be.....where was it from.

2) What race was the Space Jockey, and what connection to they hold to the Xeno.

3) How did Weyland Yutani come to be and what kinds of industries to they have.

We know a lot about 3) as far as what Weyland Yutani do before Prometheus but Prometheus seems to show us that Weyland Corp is more geared towards pushing technological boundaries and genetics, and Terraforming and Mining etc... And we also see a glimpse into the Evolution of the Androids that are in the Franchise.

But we are left with clues that Yutani tried to sue Weyland for Patent regarding David 8 model, this must mean either someone at Yutani was involved in some aspects of David 8s creation or that they felt Weyland had borrowed from their ideas.  Or it could be simply that their was a patent for the synthetic life like production that went into the David models, this could be a patent to do with the Skin or other materials and Tech that make them less Robot like.

Also as Weyland Corp does not seem as geared towards Military in Prometheus, we have to assume that Yutani is the more Military Technology Company.  And i ponder if there aim was to produce a Army of Androids but the Patent meant they could not use and replicate the realistic materials and are thus stuck with more Walking Tin Cans as i refer them in my work in progress Paradise draft.

A draft i was working on, has a ship out past Alpha Mensae that picks up a signal but it can not quite translate it.

Back on Earth/Mars the company are holding board meeting about the future of the company as there has not been contact with Prometheus and some are wondering i they should send out a rescue mission.  But the current next in line to the company does not want to do so, as he wants to remain in charge and will wait for Prometheus to contact them.

They find out about the SOS but how the ship can not decode it and ask if they want this ship to go closer to Zeta 2 Reticuli system, but the Temporary CEO orders to ignore and keep secret the SOS.

I have it where there is a Mrs Vickers unknown to the company who turns up at the outpost the board meeting is taking place, she has a video message from Weyland which he states he is leaving the company to her and that she knows what orders he has and how he wants the company to be ran and to not allow his cousin to get to run the company as he wants to militarise it to compete with Yutani.

We then go on the path of Shaw and David and Engineers..

But we get cut backs to Weyland and Yutani, and Yutani discover that Weyland knows of a SOS not only one from the past that they knew about for a while but also a recent one.  And so Yutani set off a mission to LV 223.....

Hearing this Bishop the 1st wants to also do so,  but Vickers says no, and she fires him.  Bishop then gets on board with Yutani and he reveals what David 8 had transmitted, Yutani seeing this as a chance to get its hands on some Tech that could help out them i.e Engineers tech.

We then cut back to Shaw and co...

Then at the end we go back to Weyland Yutani where we see Yutani set off a mission to LV 223,  we see also that Bishop Weyland said if Yutani can help him to remove Vickers then he could see it beneficial for all parties.

Yutani send in a Android of its own to assassinate Vickers and she puts up a fight and beats the Androids, Bishop Walks in and goes to pretend to warn Vickers, and she thinks he up to no good and is about to grab him when he pleads on his knees, giving enough time for one of the Androids to wound Vickers... and when it does she bleeds white milk.

She then destroys the Android she goes to kill Bishop but then she is overpowered and shot at and then taken away... this ends the Weyland Plot for Paradise...

And we finally go back to Shaw and David....

My draft would have continued in a 3rd movie that shows that Yutani sets off to LV 223, and that now that its proven Vickers 2 was a robot, Bishop 1st is now again the rightful owner of Weyland, however he made a deal with Yutani and then a 3rd movie will show that the company is merged, this would be via a number of events inc what goes down on LV 223.

But i had not thought yet in detail the exact order of events and reasons for such a merger.... and who gains the upper hand but i do go towards it being mutually beneficial.

So that was kind of some of the ideas that would set in pace some events in a Part 3 that would lead to the Merger...

Off course what really happened is yet to be told and hopefully Fox and who ever they get to help Ridley write the next two movies will at very least to a certain extent show us what went down.

Dare I mention that in AVP... Mrs Utani receives a Predator gun from the aftermath in the Antarctic.... I only mention this as this would suggest that her company was possibly keeping an eye on Weyland many years earlier than the goings on LV423.

The way I view AvP is complicated.  Something like that might have happened in this universe/timeline, but I don't think those exact events happened. There are a lot of reasons I believe this, I think that Janek is lying to us and time isn't moving the same when the crew arrives at Lv-223..The filmmakers said the mission time that David lists off is important, not random. Janek is comforting/tricking minds into thinking time is still moving the same way.

I've got some strange reasons for it, but basically I think AvP is happening in its own universe.  Whereas the new Darkhorse comics are closer to this universe/timeline, not quite part of it...

To put it simply, the Weyland timeline/virals mentioned M-theory (multiple universe/many worlds theory)...There has to be a reason.

I liked AVP... Other than badly edited time expence... 10 minutes should have been ten hours for re-configuration of the Pyramid (would have been cannon and more desperate and scary). Beautiful effects tho and cunning sleek Xeno's and a Melificent Queen. Loved the Pred Ship too....

Any how I liked the tie in with W&U....
