Could Sega revive the Aliens RPG in the future?

MemberPraetorianJul-31-2016 8:41 AMBack in 2009 Sega announced they were developing an Aliens RPG but cancelled shortly after. The game was mostly complete but it unfortunately never saw the light of day.

AdminEngineerJul-31-2016 10:55 AMI recall the official title was "Aliens: Crucible", and yeah it was near completion but then Aliens: Colonial Marines began making the rounds. I think SEGA put their eggs in the wrong basket lol

MemberFacehuggerJul-31-2016 10:58 AMIt has been said that Sega is re-releasing its system the Genesis I think.

MemberPraetorianJul-31-2016 11:46 AMOh yeah i forgot its name was Aliens: Crucible. Wait I thought they changed their mines and switched to AVP 2010 since they were developing Aliens Colonial Marines around the same time they were developing Aliens Crucible.

MemberFacehuggerJul-31-2016 12:28 PMThat would be an interesting game to play in today's time where the 2ndGen PS4 & XBone are about to release with a new XBone in Spring. The Hardware is defffinitely there to produce an engaging & revolutionary style RPG as long as the Developers/Publishers take it with Seriousness after the inevitable intense success of A:C a year from now ^_^

MemberFacehuggerJul-31-2016 12:40 PMIf they used the Alien controls similar to AVP 2010 I'd be totally down for that. Going back to the old games where you go through the Alien life cycle, and maybe adapt based on the host you choose.
I'd like it, but I think Sega is still cautious about Alien after what a disaster Colonial Marines was. Even if Isolation did really well, Colonial Marines brought such bad press(as it should have one of the worst games I've ever played).

MemberPraetorianJul-31-2016 2:47 PMWell I know this is a fat/thin chance or even a snowball chance in hell but I wish they make it PC exclusive like AVP2

MemberFacehuggerJul-31-2016 4:15 PMI think the game your talking about was developed into alien isolation.

Alien Crucible was canceled none of its assets were integrated with Alien Isolation. Also Alien Isolation doesn't have any RPG elements.

MemberTrilobiteJul-31-2016 11:14 PMAn Aliens RPG, as in a digital version of the "Aliens Adventure Game" developed by Leading Edge Games in 1990, as pictured below...
Actually, I think I would prefer either an Aliens or an AVP real-time strategy game. Blizzard Entertainments Starcraft series was obviously designed to be as such but for whatever reason, they didn't get the license and we got Starcraft instead. But now with SEGA having the license maybe they could make the game, possibly adding some much needed new ideas to the genre while capitalizing on the buzz surrounding Halo Wars 2. I just hope it would be better than 2003's AVP: Extinction (pictured below) with base/hive buildings, vehicles and the like.
