Just for Fun: Would you like to see an ALIENS anime?

MemberPraetorianAug-02-2016 2:10 AMWould anyone besides me would like to see an Aliens anime spinoff? They could use the art style of Blue Gender or something similar or Knights of Sidonia to pull off the feel. As for the story... they could borrow elements from the comics I guess or the new Fire & Stone comic series.
Would be cool to see

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2016 8:31 AMNo please.
Alien is a great thing, but my experience with anime is very bad i think it might possibly be worst the alien resurrection.

MemberPraetorianAug-02-2016 9:06 AMI myself have done a short animation in cartoon form of the scene where the nostromo crew find the dead space jockey in its chair, but none in the degree of showing xenomorphs and violence, I would personally like to see something animated just for the fun of viewing because, i just haven't seen it before...
but it would have to be done non comically....I know I'm contradicting myself since my animated short is comedic. but then again i didn't show a xenomorph or anything shocking....yet....
At this moment Im doing a more "serious" animation FAN short of the universe and will be able to show hopefully later this year. It won't be funny at all... it will be in the vain of Ridley's atmosphere and the look won't be cartoonish..
I really love the art above btw! ;D so cool little giger and alien. my eyes jumped when i saw it haha
awesome post and notion @Xenotaris

MemberTrilobiteAug-02-2016 7:49 PMXENOTARIS - Hmm...after careful consideration, I would have to say that I am torn on the matter. I greatly enjoy the Alien universe and would love to see more of it. However, I am not certain if Anime or Manga would be the proper vehicle. Regardless, this is a very fun and thought-provoking topic! :)

MemberOvomorphAug-02-2016 7:57 PMOnly if they went with the style of ninja scrolls, Akira, original ghost in the shell, metropolis, aeon flux etc... None of that flashy cgi rushed soulless garbage. Not only was the animation good but the characters and they're behaviors were not over exaggerated and unrealistic.

MemberTrilobiteAug-02-2016 8:53 PMUFOANAUT - The original Ghost in the Shell is still to this day one of the finest examples of animation I have ever had the pleasure of viewing! :)

MemberPraetorianAug-03-2016 12:20 AMYeah the original Ghost in the Shell was a masterpiece. Blue Gender has a Starship Trooper feel to it which could of easily been a perfect adaptation of Aliens.

MemberNeomorphAug-04-2016 3:25 AMNo! Don’t turn the alien into a joke. By making an animated Alien thing you will probably make it worse than AvP. Animated movies are for kids, Alien shouldn’t be that.

I said Anime, not animated kids movie, you obviously never watched Wicked City, Devilman, Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Blue Gender have you? Those shows are definitely not for Kids.
Geneocyber would of made an excellent alien anime, it had the right art-style and so did Blue Gender, heck some of the older animes even borrowed the giger design for some of their monsters.
Go watch Kite or Kite: Liberator and see if you still thinks its a kid show

MemberPraetorianAug-04-2016 1:10 PM@Thoughts_Dreams no offense, but to compare a possible anime of Alien to avp is kinda a low blow to artists who actually respect the original lol I for one see it no different than a comic book adaptation, which by the way have given us the best books ever...hollywood is the one who should take the blame in that cash grab low quality story stuff...not actual artists....even ridley drew the storyboards for his vision, it may seem comical to see drawings for alien but Ridley started it all with concept art and situations...hell, even Giger art is purely imaginary, not real....yet the entire franchise is based of artwork...so i can agree not to make a "cartoon" out of it, but to limit its potential in art form is a bit closed minded.....AVP was exploitation of what was great.... Anime would only be paying respect to it, in a different form.
I will animate an animated short regardless of the outcry and criticism. I as a fan know what i want to see...doesnt have to be what everyone else whats to see...it will be fan made... when i was a kid, my very first full comic book was "Alien"...a bunch of fast drawn pictures of the xenomorph killing astronauts in a ship lol...it was like 20 papers stapled together....that was my FIRST expression of this film, as a kid lol. Alien made me take graphic outerspace stories more seriously and made me want to be a comic artist... :)

MemberNeomorphAug-04-2016 1:56 PMHawley Griffin: I respect animated shows, I like some of them. My point is that a lot of animated shows are for kids and that isn't a path where the Alien franchise should go. Alien should stick to the movies IMO. Don't think of this as a way to trash your ideas it is just that I disagree.

MemberNeomorphAug-04-2016 2:00 PMXenotaris: Maybe I misunderstood but also English isn't my first language. No I haven't watched those that you mention. Another thing is that I am not a fan of over-doing things because then it becomes like Star Wars (which I like parts of) you will get a animated Alien show, then you will get alien candy and so on. For me it becomes a thing that you can buy and sell chew on and spit out so it becomes meaningless, this is a thing that Alien could turn into and I don't like it hence the keep it to the movies comment.

MemberPraetorianAug-04-2016 2:05 PM@Thoughts_Dreams: Were not talking about animated shows from Disney/Pixar, Dreamworks, or some other american animated show production. What I mean by anime is Japanese Animations whose stories are just as mature as a live action show.
I highly doubt that most anime would even qualify as a kids show or at least the ones I brought up: Showing Satanic themes, Nudity, sex, graphical violence (Dismemberment, Decapitation, and Disemboweling), harsh language unsuitable for little ones.
Anime is not solely for kids

MemberPraetorianAug-04-2016 2:28 PMbut back on Topic, I could see them do a variation of the main theme to ALIEN or explore a similar theme of the comics. I think Weyland-Yutani, BioNat, or some new Corporation would attempt to harnessing a xenomorph would make for a good story and show how it would be a bad idea to do such a thing.
Also the alien universe is vast, so they could have a story based around a set of new characters that discover more of the Engineer/Space Jockey's legacy.

MemberNeomorphAug-04-2016 2:44 PMXenotaris: Oh, now I get it but I still think that it is to over-do it.
