First of all, that was a bit harsh.Writing off a whole film based on 2 minute teaser is not fair, but it's her opinion. The only concern of hers i might agree with is the shower scene.A little too Requiem meets slasher. But i still don't have a problem with it.

Id, thanks. never saw this review. Here are my thoughts:
First of all, she disrespected the facehugger. NEVER disrespect the facehugger! You DIE! You die and then go to the hell! She said she was about to watch it apparently for the first time but her reactions appeared as though she had already seen it and proceeded to TALK during the trailer. If you are talking, you are not listening. She does bring up valid points such as stepping onto a planet surface with no protective gear/infection control protocals. I agree with her on the Weaver classiness although that is based solely on a trailer.
"Really Ridley Scott! This is supposed to be Alien"Im pretty sure it still is.Her treatment of Katherine Waterstone is ridiculous, whether it was the hair cut or the profanity, they have no bearing on the quality of the film whatsoever.

I understand your point on the comparison to Ripley. My take was Ripley had a decidedly more calm approach than Waterson- but this can be easily misjudged since it is only a couple seconds of a bigger movie. It might be best to not compare the two at all. The overall tone of the review came across as dismissive to me. I don’t think RS is going to half ass his baby.
I get you.Ripley is unbeatable.I think the profanity is shock value for the redband trailer.I do hope she doesn't come of as too ridiculous or hot headed.

Totally agree. Even James Cameron said the other day the franchise has been all over the map since Aliens. I'm still excited to see it, but the Prometheus trailer was epic & this trailer resorted to cliche 2010+ horror conventions. This trailer is making the same mistake they keep on making since Alien 3: it's trying to recreate the qualities of Alien & Aliens on a bigger budget It looks cliched from the very first bloody foot prints. Alien was scary in part because of the film it was filmed on & the relatively low budget. I imagine that, like most filmmakers, Scott isn't as "hungry" as he was in his first films.
For the most part the members here have a relative adoration for Mr. Scott, myself included. But as with any artist, there will be those who don't share the same vision. We do our best to keep any challenging arguments specific to a topic, not individual.

Thanks, although we do encourage healthy debate, we're pretty quick to nuke trolls from orbit. Just to be sure.

James Cameron doesn't own the franchise.

I think he means Nostromo 79.I don't he likes the fact that He's not excited about Alien Covenant.Me personally,i just said we don't need James Cameron's opinion of the franchise.
