MemberDeaconFeb-20-2017 6:30 PMIndeed, both good theories... maybe indeed.
If David was some way to being free, and knew there was a way he could be more free but he was not able to perform this task, then indeed getting Shaw to do it for him by Trickery could work.
On the Flip side..... If Shaw knew of a Reset Button, would she be tempted to use it so that this David who she may find hard to trust can pose less of a threat.
But then indeed, this would wipe Davids memory and knowledge he had about the Engineers and Their Technology... we have to assume a Freshly Turned on David would not have this knowledge.
So its Catch 22 for Shaw and i think this was a very wasted Dynamic that we may not now get to see.
Some kind of Covenant would have to be made between them...
I think now we have to rely on Walter and David dynamic for this kind of Cat and Mouse, Trust/Dont Trust Arc.

MemberPraetorianFeb-20-2017 6:43 PMHadn't considered that his memory would be wiped. As for Shaw, would she know the anatomy of an android?Ripley seemed to know what she was doing when it came to both Ash and Bishop.

MemberChestbursterFeb-21-2017 12:32 AMAccording to Bishop in Aliens, the newer models are programmed with "behavioural inhibitors" which makes it impossible for them to "harm or by omission of action, allow to be harmed, a human being". This is partly copied from Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics":
- "A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws."
I guess David 8 wasn't programmed with these "behavioural inhibitors"?

MemberNeomorphFeb-21-2017 1:04 AMtimeline wise david is the oldest model we have seen. im pretty sure ash didn't have the same protocols bishop had so it is safe to assume david doesn't either.

MemberPraetorianFeb-21-2017 5:21 AMNo,Ash became violent,we might expect the same from Walter maybe.
