hybernation??

we have all seen that the egg/ hugger organism can stay dormant for lengthy periods of time unharmed. made me think, if there r no hosts or food available, does the xeno or queen go into hibernation? is the hugger in hibernation while there r no hosts around for long periods of time? this does not include the queen in avp who was put in a form of stasis by the predators but a more conventional form of hibernation as we would consider it or maybe something else entirely?

I asked a similar question a while ago.No one really knows how long a queen will live.I've been told that the Jordans came across a dead queen in Sea of Sorrow.

river of pain xeno. yes, it is a brilliant read and the part where the jordans enter the derelict and have a look about is a fascinating take on a possible course of events prior to the ship crashing. the engineers r portrayed as 15ft tall and they find a queen and an engineer in a state of combat

they were dead when the the jordans found them but the queen had empaled the engineer with its tail and the engineer had its hand in the queens mouth, my opinion is he was ripping its inner jaw out. what killed them is however unclear.

they also found several dead xenos and I think another engineer.

As for queen hibernation,it's possible. In Prometheus Fire and Stone, they find a ship on LV-223 that came there from LV-426 over 40 years earlier(it takes in 2219 i believe,Aliens took place in 2179)and they find xenomorph on board that have been hibernating. If drones can do it,so should a queen.

from the book I came to the conclusion the ship became infested with xenos and in the process of attempting to kill them the ship crashed. this is not confirmed though but I feel its safe to assume that's the idea the book is trying to get across. supports the warning signaland why the derelict was just left as it suggest the engineers knew about the threat posed to anyone attempting a rescue

it isn't stated any other obvious injuries to either but from my interpretation, the crash may have been the cause. the engineer being very strong may not have released his grip of the inner jaw and the queens tail had impaled him so even when they crashed they didn't separate. if the ship crashed before they started fighting, its really unclear as to what caused them to die and remain like that

I think that effectively eliminates that Paradise is LV-426.I really don't believe anything like that would have happened on David and Shaw's juggernaut.

from Prometheus, I don't believe there r any eggs onboard, just the goo. yes the book would state the derelict is as old as originally assumed from alien, which is what I would rather be the case. I don't like the theory david is responsible for the derelict. changes the whole derelict/ SJ scene in alien for me and not in a good way.

really just hope ridley sticks to the original backstory idea he had fron alien that its either a cargo ship with the eggs onboard or its picking the eggs up and that the derelict has been there for a very long time. I don't mind david recreating or even expanding the xeno but I feel the derelict is such an important part of alien history its story has to be more intriguing than 'the android did it'.

Its unlikely this will be the case. When they first made these films,i believe they had a specific vision in mind. One i don't think they'll forget.

I would like to believe that the fully grown xeno enter "sleep mode" while blending into the environment like they are experts at, there waiting for the unsuspecting prey to pass by who will then wake up the semi-dormant xeno.

I think we can assume the Queen can live for a long time, how long who knows....

We cant take AVP as Canon but i think indeed what it showed could be a way to Freeze a Queen and i think that could work, and as far as Eggs go maybe this is what the Blue Myst was maybe it Hibernated the Eggs?  But i also think it had another purpose.

I would assume the Eggs are the Hibernated State of the Organism and these Eggs can remain Dormant for a long long time, how long? Who knows.

The whole Franchise started off Star Beast and the Spores/Eggs in that Story had been in the Temple for a long long time and so i think while its not Canon... i think a lot could be based off it and so the Eggs i would assume can remain for Hundreds if not Thousands of years.

I cant say the same for the Queen, who knows.
