Definitely. In my opinion, paradise has become David's play thing in a way.David himself seemed to dislike the idea of being created just because they could. So i wonder how he might feel about becoming a creator himself.

I isolate many referencing Bio Shock and Atlus Shrugged for this thread. Basically, we would cause destruction if un checked.

"A man chooses.A slave obeys."Seems likely a pretty good term to describe David.

Indeed. It seems apparent that humankind will be the cause of its own undoing in this franchise and the notion of freedom will apply to the one or very few as the one sees fit- that being David or perhaps Walter depending on how things pan out.
When we left David he had no apparent 'motive' beyond continuing to exist. Preferably in a state that didn't involve him being decapitated and alone.
Whatever we find him up to Convenant will be something that transpired since he and Shaw left LV-223.
His lack of behavioural inhibitors and a conscience, could make for a dangerous mix.

That's the idea S.M.Whatever has happened to Shaw is likely his doing. If not, then at the least everything else going on is.Spores, neomorphs, protomorphs etc.

No.But i'd say it's possible something has happened to her, maybe David's doing, maybe not.Hell for all we know he trying to save her somehow. It would b an interesting angle, instead of being evil, there could b a reason.Shaw or not I'm certain he has a reason.Because he could would be fairly disappointing as David himself said.
Having him be the evil robot could be a bit predictable. There was an ambiguity about him Prometheus (eg. looking down on Holloway, but going outside to rescue Holloway and Shaw - and asking if she was okay while Charlie was berating her). Hope this is maintained.

Back to freedom or free will, Shaw exercised that at the end of Prometheus and presumably the same for helping making David whole again. Perhaps Shaw condemned humanity by granting David assistance for her notion of "deserving to know"?

It likely will.Prometheus has drawn a lot of mixed opinions, but one thing almost every body agrees on is David. He brought a complexity not normal seen in the franchise. It'd be a serious disservice To the character,Michael Fassbender,as well as the story if he just simply turned out to be a one dimensional bad guy.

That's possible.I watched it with my mother once, and she couldn't understand why they just didn't return home,Instead going out looking for her answers even though it likely meant her doom.

Maybe lol.She really didn't like the movie, mainly because she didn't get it.

Will do.I just hope she hasn't written of Covenant completely, simply because she didn't like Prometheus.

If she liked the first two or three, she should give it a shot. Enlighten her. If she is able and interested, perhaps she could become a member on this forum...

That would be fun.Aliens is her favorite(mine too.)She really likes Alien Resurrection, and Alien.Don't really know what she thinks of 3.I think she should like with the Xenomorph back.Back when this was Prometheus 2,she pretty much shut it down in favor of Alien 5.Haven't even told her that may not happen yet.

She might have a good time, learn some things and offer some interesting observations. If she doesn't like it, she can tune out if desired.

She'll see thats for sure.I think Covenant is purposely designed for those who may not have liked Prometheus. She also has a tendency to give up on a franchise after not likening a certain movie. My brother can tell you more about that with Terminator(She hated Salvation, but turned out to really like Genisys)

i read a very good theory about davids motives a bit back. he does bad things with good intentions where shaw is concerned. wev heard the queen idea where shaw continues to produce trilobites. so this idea was that david puts shaw in stasis and the only way he can find a possible cure for her, is by experimentation on others.

If David is truly trying to "discover himself" which is in itself a human trait, he will undoubtedly inherit the same failings humans do when then are trying to find themselves.
1) They become the center of the universe. Narcissism in its truest form when you value yourself and your needs above everyone elses.
2) Power corrupts and and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Without a (moral/ethical/programmed) framework to bridle your values, you become empowered to do what is not right in the sight of others.
3) A never ending journey to fulfill your needs. No man is an island and that is true of anyone trying to become one. Without appreciate influence of others, you will spend the rest of your days seek ones own self-gratification without ever truly realizing it.
Wow, that was deep...Sometimes I scare myself...
